300,000 downloads of the Windows Phone Developer Tools

Windows Phone 7 is expected to boast hundreds of apps on launch. Microsoft has announced that more than 300,000 copies of its Windows phone 7 developer tools have been downloaded, indicative of the high interest there exist amongst developers for the platform.

The company has also announced that it will be releasing the final version of the software, complete with official panoramic and pivot controls, which developers had to roll for themselves so far, on the 16 September 2010.  Marketplace will open for submissions in early October.

Microsoft also touted a sample of companies who they are working with to bring applications to market, and it includes a good selection of instantly useful apps, such as for ebay, real estate by Move.com, Seesmic of twitter fame and jobsearch via Jobsite.com.

An updated version of Marketplace Policies has also been released, and Microsoft will start a practice runs for certifying apps over the next few weeks.
