7.10.8862.144 WP 7.8 update removes Google Contacts and Calendar sync

Google is disabling Exchange ActiveSync from Google’s Contacts and Calendar service, but this will only affect new users.  If you happen to hard reset your newly upgraded Windows Phone 7.8 handset however you will find Microsoft has removed the option to sync with Google’s contacts and calendar service (somewhat sensible for a service which is going away) but leaving users unable to access their calendar and contacts well before Google’s 31st July deadline.

It seems life is getting increasingly complicated for Windows Phone users who are also using Google’s services, suggesting it may be a good idea to move your data over to Outlook.com as soon as you can.
