7 days of the HTC Touch Pro 2

front_open_hand 4winmobile.com has published a review of the HTC Touch Pro 2 which aims to give a more natural impression of how the device performs in real life.

Set to covering 7 days, the reviewer expresses some opinions which I have not heard before about the device e.g.

While I’m thinking about the hardware keyboard, my experience of it is a bit of a mixed bag. It feels a lot like the Xperia keyboard, i.e. too soft and squishy, but having said that, I have not been missing keys like I did with the X1. The buttons are nice and big, the travel seems about right too. It’s just the feedback that’s not there. The original Touch Pro had a superb keyboard but for me the one on the Touch Pro 2 doesn’t feel great but it seems to tick all the required boxes for use (except for a lack of OK button).

With 3 more days to go, keep an eye on 4winmobile for the rest of the review.

Thanks Sarkis for the tip.

OT: The HTC Firestone is leaking on several websites.

And here’s some new, higher quality pictures:

Release date seems to be August 2009, and it has no flash (again :( )
There’s not much difference from the Touch HD. It seems to be smaller, have a transflective screen and a slighty faster processor.

I can’t believe that all the people whining about no OK button on the front of the device have STILL not realized that the “back” button is really the exact same thing as the OK button but less ugly looking. The Touch Diamond, Pro, HD, Diamond 2, and Pro 2 are like this, yet these reviewers still haven’t got it!

I think he meant OK on the keyboard. I don’t think there is one there which is D-U-M-B.

My TP2 is going back to Tmobile. There are 3 buttons every WM device must have on the HW keyboard: 1. OK button 2. Start button and 3. Tab button. Browsing the internet and entering data smoothly requires the OK button and Tab buttons. And the Start button is more convenient when using the HW keyboard instead of scrolling through Touch Flo. HTC should stop trying to copy the iPhone – why do you think we are buying HTC products instead of the iPhone you apparently iPhone iDiot HTC designers?

I agree with RufusG, at least when it comes to the tab button. There should allways be one!

    KEY ISSUES
I've got a Vodafone TP2 in the standard leather case. Since I've had it I have missed many calls and had complaints that it rings people by itself.
This I put down to the phone buttons which stick out and are easily pressed by the case. I have a keylock on the phone, but if I put the phone away before the keylock has come on and it will switch itself on and phone someone. I also think this happens when I receive a TXT.
I would not recommend this phone purely due to this issue, which is a shame as I believe it is a good device (especially if you switch the power hungry and anoying TOUCHFLO 3D off).
