8107 update roll-out now starting for O2 UK

A week ago we wrote that O2 would start rolling out the 8107 update for Windows Phone 7.5 this week, and true to their word the update notification has now started rolling out to device.

Dan has contacted us to let us know this disappearing keyboard-fixing software is now safely on his HTC HD7, and will hopefully be flowing to other devices also.

It’s odd – as many of the original posts mentioned Vodafone UK Optimus 7 as being one already being updated.

I did the “pull the internet” trick to try to force the update through Zune, and this did work a couple of times. Unfortunately, despite having successfully dropped in every update since I got this phone in Dec 2010, my Optimus 7 failed at 14% doing the backup, so no update was possible. I’m afraid that when/if Vodafone UK drops this update, my phone will refuse. Will wipe phone and try if this happens – just means I have to do all the Angry Birds levels again…!

Just connected my HTC Trophy (Verizon) to the Zune software and got a notification. Hopefully fixes the damn keyboard. Very annoying to have to restart an app to get the keyboard back.
