SMT 5800 gets stealth Windows Mobile 6.1 update
The Verizon SMT5800 has been released so long ago I had trouble recognizing the code name. However, thinking back now, it was a pretty innovative device with its combination on front-facing keypad and slide-out keyboard.
For owners who are still tied to the device with a 2 year contract, you will appreciate the recent arrival of a Windows Mobile 6.1 update to the device.
The update brings some new features also, including GPS and EVDO Rev A support. The handset now also supports Verizon Navigator.
This is a clear example of better late than never, so hop on over to Phonenews for the download.

HTC HD now running with Android 2.1 and Sense UI
The World of Windows Mobile has been compromised by Android. The HTC HD, which was once the best Windows Mobile devices is slowly becoming the best Android ported device. Earlier this week an Android port was made for the HD and that port came with Sense UI and Android 2.1 software. That means if you own an HD and have the newest dual booting system, you can get this going on your device. The files can be found on XDA and remember this is not perfect yet, they are some missing things like:

Dual Booting ROMz begin on Touchpro2 & Android cab
Recently dual booting became easier for Windows Mobile devices, and now NRG has a ROM that’s just for that. The new ROM series has been named “Energy Android Super Lite ROM” and is a naked ROM that has the Dual booting software built in and nothing else. The ROM it self is only 58MB and when you flash that, you will need the Android files which can be found in a CAB file that is provided by Reefermattness and is a very large 85MB. It seems if you own a Touchpro2 and have been looking at Android, it could not get any easier than this, since everything comes in a cab, so get the links and tell us how you like it.

Palm says goodbye to Treo Pro, does not want to drag it down with the company
PalmInfocenter has noticed Palm’s last Windows Mobile device, the Palm Treo Pro, recently made a rapid disappearance from Palm’s website and from their online store.
The only mention of the device is on a still-active product page for the CDMA Treo Pro in Alltel and Sprint. The handset can also still be bought unlocked in its GSM version from Dell for $179.99 as well as from Amazon.
Palm, who has turned to Windows Mobile in an attempt to save the company in 2005, has recently seen its share price drop a third from a one year high of $18.09 to a low of 11.98 today (and as low as $10 on New Years Eve) after it abandoned its Windows Mobile-based business market in a quixotic attempt to unseat the iPhone consumer king and losing money for 9 straight quarters. With increasing loss of interest in USA and overseas sales below expectation, it is expected by many not to survive the current smartphone wars.
