7 inch Windows Mobile MID shown off, first official device with Windows Mobile 6.5.1
C-motech’s Snapdragon powered Windows Mobile MID with its 7 inch WVGA screen was shown off at Qualcomm’s event today. While the device has been shown off earlier (see the video below) this is the first time an official, not hacked device, has been seen in public with running Windows Mobile 6.5.1.
The device sports 3G, WIFI and WIMAX, so would presumably be at home on nearly any network, and is set to launch in Q1 2010 (presumably with Windows Mobile 6.5.1. firmly in place).

6.5.1, eh?
Personally I don't think it's anywhere read for primetime, but maybe by Q1 2010 it will be.

I was really hoping that they would fix those god awful softkey buttons by the time this went official. Guess my hopes were too high yet again.

those buttons can be skinned, and I'm hoping that the new skinning softwares that will be on the market when 6.5.1 is out will actually skin deep in the OS and not just change the background pic and color.

Me too… which is why I have a hard time believing this will have 6.5.1 or that 6.5.1 will look like that once it goes public.
Not nice looking at all, if this is where Microsoft is actually headed in terms of design then… nah, I won't even go there, this can't be anything like the final build.

Does that run an Atom processor?
Because then good luck running Windows 7 on it… I had it on my netbook, it worked okay but I had no reason to not go back to using XP. XP works nicely and efficiently, plays some games and 720p HD videos – Windows7 just looked pretty and rolled along as if it was on square wheels.
Apparently the basic edition of Windows 7 was tailored for netbooks so it might run better, but who needs that, you can't even change the wallpaper on the basic edition.

Can't even change the wallpaper? Have we regressed to Windows 3.0? (remember, on that 286 in the garage)

7 ultimate runs perfectly fine on a 1.6 atom, if anything faster than XP does!

are you sure that the foto isn't a good photoshop job? in the video the is just windows mobile 6.5 and also the display of the device in the first photo seems to be too bright to me when compared to light conditions on device…
also the guy in the video says that there will be windows mobile 6.5, nothing about 6.5.1
