Telus HTC Touch Pro 2 to be re-launched in HSDPA version?
Here is an interesting rumour. TheMobileNinjas.com is reporting that Telus, who has recently launched a new HSDPA network with Bell, is set to re-release the HTC Touch Pro 2 in its GSM/HSDPA version.
While the current CDMA HTC Touch Pro 2 of course is GSM/HSDPA capable, a device targeted at the GSM market should have video calling, absent from the CDMA device.
Hopefully gaining a video conferencing camera will not mean losing the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

What do you mean the current CDMA TP2 is compatible with GSM/HSPA?
So Telus is going to get the GSM version just so people can video call? News flash, nobody uses video calling in Canada even on the GSM networks. It would be a waste, especially if as you say the old devices can just get on the new HSPA network.

The CDMA TP2 supports GSP/HSDPA on these frequencies: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS2100.

Yeah, they didn't think ahead and have HTC include the HSDPA frequencies they would be using.

CDMA can't call and surf at the same time. With GSM TP2 can call and do other stuff at the same time

Hi,
If we compare the sound quality GSM is weak compared to CDMA.Some phones will just be capable of handling both networks, but, GSM being the primary network source. The CDMA version of the Touch Pro did have slide out keyboard issues and what it really came down to was a build quality issue. If you hold down around the space bar area, you should be able to 'fix' it. The GSM
version of the phone did not have this problem.
