Red camera issues on things other than the HD2?
From the images below, it’s clear that the HD2 isn’t alone when it comes to red tints on cameras.
This image posted over at XDA-Developers is from the HTC Touch HD.
And this is from the Motorola Droid.
And this is from GSM Arenas review of the Nokia N97.
Clearly, they all exhibit some kind of red tint, and on such a range of devices, manufacturers and even on a range of OS platforms, perhaps there’s something wrong with the camera chips themselves?
Have you got any other devices affected by the red camera issue?

This makes me feel better! I was annoyed about mine, hopefully what HTC say is true and a software fix will come out… At least its not very visible with the flash on.

Omnia HD is also confirmed to have the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50...

If diferent manufacturers, with different software and different leses, have the same problem, we don't have to think to far to know where is the problem. HARDWARE!
What is not different is that all those cameras with same pinky probrem: N97, Droid, and HD2 is that all have a CCD sensor of 5 Mpx.
So the problem is in the CCD or the firmare. Firmare is usually integrated with the sensor. The only question left is: Do all these cameras got the CCD sensor from the same manufacturer?

The Omnia HD has an 8mpx sensor.
The problem is definitely a hardware one but the software on the HD2 seems to further enforce it.

Could HTCs "software" update, be an update to the firmware?

I can't wait to see how they're going to fix a presumably hardware fault in software…
HTC is losing customers because of this. they should really hurry.

The good thing is: The HD2 will (hopefully) get a fix, even though it's only software.
Other devices won't get a fix.

nice, so we ain't alone.. thats actually good news for me. I only experienced the red tint on 1 pic so far and I've made over 50 already. Changing the whitebalance decreases the red tint, also the flash does decrease the visibility

I have it in my review HTC Tattoo.
That's not using a 5mp ccd..
