StylusLock – phone lock and unlock using the stylus sensor
The quest for the perfect phone locking software is still ongoing. The most visually attractive solution, Slide2Unlock, does not work on the HTC Touch Diamond and Pro, leaving the Home key unlocked and also has a significant problem with battery usage.
The latest entrant to the field is StylusLock by ZuinigeRijder. The software, which promises no battery or processor drain beyond normal, works by locking and unlocking based on the status of the stylus in the stylus slot, using the stylus sensor only found in the HTC Touch Diamond and Pro.
Lock and unlock events are signified using vibrations, and the device is always unlocked when on power. Pulling the stylus in and out within less than 3 seconds will change the lock status.
While the software is promising I am not sure how convenient it is to pull the stylus in and out before you can answer a phone call. See the video above for the app in action, and read more in this related XDA-Developers thread.

I have to disagree with the comments about the S2U2 software not working on the diamond. Both of the battery drain and the home button issues have been fixed and I have been successfully using the software for over two weeks without 1 glitch. Probably one of the most brilliant pieces of software I use on my Diamond.
Using the S2U2 1.21c software on:
Touch Diamond
ROM: SwiftBL Diamond ROM V6.0 Full
RADIO: Radio 1.00.25.05

Thats (welcome) news to me. I will need to check it out, but I had given up on S2U2 after all the issues (especially the battery drain) and did the author not give up on further development of the software also?

I use the slide to unlock program from PPCLink, works great. I had problems even with the latest s2u2 on my diamond..

It comes with some other stuff, but they are separate cabs so you can just install the unlock program..

Thanks. I will give that a try. The latest S2S2 (v1.22) still does not lock the Home button for me.

Sorry, just tried it. It caused most of my test calls to be missed and the diamond phone interface popped up over the slide screen (s2u2 has the same issue) Styluslock was actually the most reliable, but unfortunately also the most confusing to use, as the app has no interface and you dont know when the screen is actually locked or not until you try and answer.
The quest continues

I dont know if you have tried em yet and not sure if they are compatible with the diamond there are a few other unlocking tools like Organic Lock n Sensor Lock.

Thanks for the tip. I must say my favourite is still S2U2, and I hope the developer returns to the project and fixes all the issues to make it useful, even if it does become commercial software.

Sunscape and throttle lock are 2 more in this category

I never tried the 1.22, I installed the 1.21 and then added the 1.21C patch and I have it working flawlessly.
edit: After testing the home button as you say, it still locks the home button on first press, but the second press of the home button unlocks the phone. Not an issue for me, as this software is way too handy for a situation that hasn’t arisen for me yet. I’m sure I’ll curse it one day, but not today.
The stylus lock defeats the purpose for me. I want simple, one handed unlocking.
I’m just glad the battery drain is gone, first day I tried it it killed half a battery on it’s own.

“i can still answer incoming call WITHOUT unlock first.”
Thats part of the problem. If you can answer without unlocking, so can any other object in your purse or pocket.
