HTC HD2 having network problems in Iran?

HTC_HD2_Iran We do not have personal experience of this ourselves, but one of our regular readers reports the HTC HD2 is having serious issues in Persia.

The problem appears to be in the interaction of the smartphone with the cell phone base stations, with Nokia base stations working perfectly well, and the device not being able to connect at all in areas served by Siemens/Ericsson base stations.

This effective means HTC HD2 owners are only having service in half of the country.  According to our informant importers are not taking responsibility for the issue, blaming the government owned carrier TCI/MCI, who have so far been unresponsive.

The only hope for owners (congregating at handheldusers.com forums ) at present appears to be a radio update by HTC, which is what owners are holding out hope for.

Are you an HTC HD2 owner in Iran having issues, or possibly the opposite – some-one having no issues at all?  Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks Parsa for the tip.

"are holding out hope far." (far != for)

it seems the problem is on HTC's shoulder then becuse if other phones work just fine when connected to those base stations then there are no reasons why the HTC handset shouldn't work too. so I think HTC has the responsibility to rectify the situation because its in their best interest to do so….even if the base stations used were tweaked a certain way. this is their flagship product, they can't allow bad news to flow around and over it.

    Hi ,

Thnx for bringing up this subject, frankly , I thought you guys would not care!
I Own an HD2 and live in Iran! dah ,…anyway, I heard about this network problems in some of Persian forums but I was not having any problems at home nor in the office and I thought how lucky am I! this was until we had our weekly visit to my mother in laws and there it was , no network coverage what so ever.
After that , I paid more attention to this matter and found some other places that my phone has no network coverage at all.
I`m not an expert on this , but I think the BTS antennas differences make this problem.

as u said “According to our informant importers are not taking responsibility for the issue, blaming the government owned carrier TCI/MCI, who have so far been unresponsive. The only hope for owners (congregating at handheldusers.com forums ) at present appears to be a radio update by HTC, which is what owners are holding out hope for.” so HTC , help us out.

BTW , how can we use USB Host? it seems that its not working!

    Cheers

I live in Iran and I can confirm that, though I myself haven't still bought the HD2 due this issue, my friends are having the problem.
The worst part is, we aren't even sure HTC are working on a radio update for Iran, because official importers say they are, but HTC themselves don't seem to know about the problem at all…

    this is utter frustration…

Almost all of the users have network coverage issues with TCI/MCI carrier. I heard that weeks before the official release our HTC agencies had the Leo prototype (TouchPRO3), so they have tested it and have known the issue for long. But so far they supplied the market pretended that nothing is wrong with the device.
Both HTC and it's agencies must take the responsibility and either fix the radio issue or retrieve the sold out devices.

Yeah yeah the problem DOES exist and the most important part of the dilemma is the resellers who don't take ANY kinds of responsibility for this…
It's a real big shame for HTC

It is exactly true. I live in Iran and I have this issue. The official HTC resellers do not respond to this problem. This is very bad for HTC's reputation in Iran, It can be solved by a radio upgrade, I ask HTC for their help. Thanks

Hah, good luck getting anywhere with Mokhaberat (aka The Telco).

Services is generally extremely terrible all over the place. Last time I was there I had a RAZR V3i with me and it wouldn't even connect when I turned my phone on.

Good to see some Windows Mobile users in Iran though, from what my friends told me I thought everyone had fallen onto the iPhone deathtrap.

I have this problem too !
    I live in iran,
Before this I had a "HTC Touch HD" but I did not have any problem !
Unfortunately, iranian operators and HTC's agency ( YAS World Trading Co. Representative of HTC ) do not any help to us!
For "HD2" I paid about 820$ to HTC's agency ( YAS Co.) but our problem is not important for them!!

    My question is:
What is the meaning "Representative of HTC" ?

After all, it looks like HTC were indeed working on it. Since a few hours ago, HTC's official retailers here have been offering a new ROM with new radio which is said to have solved the problem and there've so far been a few HD2 owners confirming this.
This ROM seems to be the latest 1.48 series test ROM that some users in xda-devs have already tested. (I'm still not sure about the version though)
It is also reported that the pink area in photos is much less visible with the new ROM.

It's currently 9:30 PM here in Tehran, so we'll have to wait until tomorrow to further verify if the issue is completely solved.
