Samsung Omnia knocks iPhone 3G off top of Krusell’s Top 10 list

Krusell, the well-known Swedish manufacturer of carrying cases for portable electronics, released its “Top 10″-list for November 2008. The list is based on number of pieces of model specific mobile and smart phone cases ordered from Krusell during November 2008. Krusell’s list is unique due to the fact that it reflects the sales of phones on six continents and in more than 50 countries around the globe.

The list is below. The obvious striking feature is the barn-storming arrival of the Samsung Omnia, who raced to first place on the chart, knocking the iPhone 3G from its number one perch which it has been occupying since its release all the way to number 4.

1. (-) Samsung SGH-i900/i910 Omnia
2. (7) Nokia 6300
3. (2) Sony Ericsson C702
4. (1) Apple iPhone 3G
5. (3) Nokia 3109
6. (-) Nokia N96
7. (-) Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia
8. (8) Nokia E71
9. (6) Nokia E51
10. (4) HTC Diamond
() = Last month’s position.

Samsung has been particularly aggressive with the Samsung Omnia, and it appears their efforts are paying off. The list also goes to demonstrate that the iPhone does not have a lock on the Touch Screen smartphone market, and will likely find its niche increasingly squeezed as more and better competition, many of them Windows Mobile smartphones, shows up.

Yes, but nonetheless, this is a heavily biased list. This is a list of people who are into their devices enough to purchase a high-end case. I would say that the majority of windows mobile users are more into their device and making the most out of it then are iPhone users.

You have to remember that the majority of iPhone users come from the likes Motorola Razr owners and like the phone because its “cool” not because its useful. So I would imagine that the people that buy a phone for useful purposes are more likely to purchase useful accessories.

I find it more interesting that the Omnia and the X1 outsell any single HTC branded device…. On that note, I really wish American carriers would get off the HTC bandwagon sometimes and pick up some other decent brands.

Well WM users often know their phones better, but do consider the custom ui added on top on the omnia, just that interface without windows was used for the touchwiz as they call it in europe
