These screenshots has just popped up in a forum Darkforcesteam.com of Windows Mobile 6.5 in action.
It shows the new today screen and new lock screen. The build number at 5.2.21140 is a few thousand builds beyond that of the HTC Touch HD which has 5.2.20757.
Keep an eye on WMPoweruser.com for more coverage as the news breaks.

Those shots of the build number show the same old interface from 6.1. One would have thought every element of the OS would have been updated. Could 6.5 just be a today screen overhaul with nothing else being updated? Hope more screens will shed more light.

And we still have that ridiculous miniscule OK button in the top corner, has MS learned nothing?

It looks to be _part_ of Windows Mobile 6.5 GUI installed on standard core. I think that this beta of 6.5 is only part of all Microsofts work. Who knows how old is it – 6.5 GUI? The core is only about 130 builds far from my contemporary ROM in Touch Pro. Also it can by half a year old dump of 6.5 pre-pre-pre-beta and actuall core. ROM cookers can do miracles

Isn’t that a few hundreds?

I think this is very old. I also want to see how 6.5 will look for smartphones.

hmm…i just need the ok button bigger…the honeycomb feel on every screen and…i dont even know what i want!
just make it better looking than android and pre (iphone is ugly to me) and im happy!

This isn’t 6.5…lol
This is a scam. This would be the worse OS when considering the newer OSes. I hate that honeycomb look also…not professional and looks cluttered.
This has to be a joke.

This isn’t official, and is speculated to be an earlier build.

Ok. My head was about to explode…I wasn’t going to wait til the 3rd quarter for that crappage. I’ve been waiting long enough as it is.

Let’s cross our fingers and hope it looks like the Zuneish stuff we’ve seen earlier when they unveil it at Barcelona next month. Like I said, the poster of a particular Youtube said this is an earlier beta and not the final stuff.

XDA-Devs will hold you down anyhow. The support there is tremendous. I’m sure sliding panels isn’t the only thing coming to version 6.5.

This has already been confirmed by a Microsoft employee to be VERY SMALL PARTS of an EXTREMELY EARLY 6.5 build which the ‘cracker’ is just running on the 6.1 core. FTR, the build is rumoured to be from the middle of last year!!
So do not even consider the GUI components, like that “small X” button or much else you’ve seen in that video is “what” 6.5 is all about.

yep, im def believing this is a conspiracy!
its sent out by a iphone (or even pre) fanboy trying to diminish our expectations of winmo!
or maybe MS did it…
either way it was successful!
im ok with my setup now…
so…the new OS will have to be wayyyyy better than this!
and wayyyyy better than what i have now for me to change.
or if maybe the OS is smaller and faster…but still looks the same.
i would do it.
nothing less though.
