More high-res Windows Mobile 6.5 screen shots
When it rains it really pours, and its really pouring from the leaky sieve that is the Windows Mobile team.
Some more pictures of Windows Mobile 6.5, this time from a VGA device has popped up. It shows the honeycomb launcher in all its glory, and also shows the now, much more finger-friendly soft key menu system.
Do any of our readers read Chinese? A translation of the text on the lock screen would be much appreciated.

Yeah it’s just like I said. Just like Windows 7 and Vista, everything has a nice glassy look to it.

Yea I would so love MS (even more) if it were released as a cab… Because there is no chance in the world LG will do an update for their KS20 and even less chance of a Swedish one and even less chance again for one you can actually get your hands on :p
Though probably you will be able to get all features in separate programs on xda-developers :p

I’m more interested in the underlying software efficiency, performance and stability.
Great visuals can be done by third party apps anyway like TouchFlo3D.
As far as Windows Mobile is concerned it needs to be fast, snappy, robust and reliable like it’s counterparts.
Freaking out over visuals is just ‘noobish’ in terms of the big picture.

I strongly disagree. Its all about the visuals at the moment.

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic here, but I also think it’s all about the visuals at the moment.
In fact, I can’t imagine a huge improvement in terms of performance since 6.5 isn’t a complete rebuild.
The fact that winmo is more “approachable” is what will boost the sales. Oh, btw, I don’t consider mac mobile (or whatever it’s called) or android “reliable.”

I also disagree. Clearly, it’s been about visuals; Microsoft knows Windows Mobile’s appearance needs to be improved to better compete. Yes TouchFlo is nice, BUT IT DOESN’T EXTEND THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE OS. THIS IS ACTUALLY BETTER. SLIDING PANELS CAN DO WHATEVER TOUCHFLO CAN.

I agree as well about the visuals, and unfortunately I think msoft is missing the mark bigtime with this “honeycomb” business.

‘efficiency, performance and stability’?
MS-DOS is your choice!

Which one’s the lock screen?
If you’re talking about the one where the time is “20:37″, this is what it says:
On the semi-transparent bar:
“No new messages”
On the black bar at the bottom:
“Missed calls”
One the white bar below it:
“you have 1 missed call”
If that wasn’t the screen you wanted a translation for, let me know which one!

Everthing looks beautiful.
At this point, I cannot be disappointed.

For the first lock screen translation, it says:
Favorites
Telephone
20:22
No new message
E-mail
No appointments
Play all songs

I think you totally missed Smug’s point. Sure the 6.5 enhancements we have seen so far, seem to be focused around looks. But the underlying issue is that if MS does not also improve the overall performance of WM, then who cares about a prettier UI. 6.1 already struggles with slugishness without any glass UI elements.
6.5 needs to improve the overall responsiveness of WM or none of those UI enhancements even matter. MS is dangerously close to falling of the edge of to little, to late. I really hope some of the Skybox, Outlook Live, and Project Pink service announcements knock it out of the park, and buy WinMo enough time until 7.
Fingers crossed.

this build consume so much RAM
,not really suitable for 64M ram device.and there may be a memory leak which only have 15M ram left after runing several programs, and couldn’t restore to 25M it can reach after a fresh restart.but I though the UI is fantastic,I really the new UI.

Looking promising…
It would be nice if the honeycomb could be scrolled in any direction, as if it was in 3D

the point of the honeycomb display is to eliminate the need for the scroll bar. The user can tell when it reaches the bottom of the list.
hey microsoft did you use bees in your R&D? the honeycomb organic look is brilliant. this is innovative.
manufacturers now it’s your turn to release proper drivers 2D & 3D & video or give the community some help to.
