More Windows Mobile 6.5 screens
Some more screenshots from 592ppc.com. Of interest in these ones is the first look at what I believe to be a Windows Mobile 6.5 keyboard (if any of our readers recognize it as a 3rd party one please let me know). Apparently this is a 3rd party SIP called PlumSIP (thx Siapi). Also of note is the curvy tabs on the setting scene and I think this may also be the first time we have seen the new horizontal scroll bar.
These pictures were just thrown in to demonstrate that we dont have to be stuck with the scary bird after all

Probably because the NDA is written in English and not in Chinese.

Rod, first and foremost Microsoft is not a phone manufacturer it is a software company. I personally believe that it does not produce its own phones so as not to have a conflict with its business partners. Second you have to understand that WinMo started out not as a phone but as a handheld device. Without Microsoft I think these companies would not come up with such smart ideas because, whether we like it or not, it is competing with such a good company that made them work harder to produce newer and better devices. Apple and Google may have the good stuff now but we do not know what the future holds. But with all these competition it is us, the consumers, that are benefiting.
Personally I like the Palm Pre better than the iPhone or the Google phone.
Peace!

What the WinCE or Windows Mobile has is probably one of the better operating systems from a technical standpoint. Unfortunately the UI on it leaves a lot to be desired, if the UI were as good as the iPhone UI, no one would be interested in the iPhone for all of its limitations. But here’s the interesting part, you can change the UI with WinMo, look at what HTC has done.
Personally, I like the choices in form factor that the Microsoft products give me. My wife has a Blackjack II and loves the form factor, I have an HTC TyTN II. Being stuck with one device seems awkward to me. I’ve tried using an iPhone, and I just can’t understand how someone can possibly type on one of those. I’ll admit the iPhone UI is much prettier. But WinMo gets the job done, actually its been doing things for years that the iPhone can’t do.
I’ll grant you Apple does much better marketing than Microsoft, always has.
