Diamond2 g-sensor needs some work for older devices. When you snap pictures, the orientation will always be portrait. Also, the album (both old and new) will not rotate correctly based on device orientation. Unless somebody has figured out some regedits that are missing, that is…
However, the new opera is fricking awesome. To me it seems twice as fast loading the app and loading pages. Rendering accuracy is about the same (not perfect, but pretty good). Adaptive zoom works better than ever. The zoom button is a really nice touch because zooming using the “wheel” was (and is) always a bit hit or miss. I seem to be getting a lot less “missed” clicks (when you tap a button and opera just sits there as if nothing happened). The 3-tab limit sucks, though, but that’s an easy regedit.
Still no scroll bar or any other way to quickly skip around long pages (GRRR). Seriously, I know finger scrolling is all “hot and sexy” now, but sometimes you just need utility. let me grab the damn bubble that appears when i’m scrolling so i can quickly zip to the bottom of the page, Opera! Damn you!
Note: on my device it said that opera installation was unsuccessful… but it works. So I guess the installer needs a bit of work.
Something called “Diamond 2 Notification Manager” was just added. What the heck is that?

QuickGPS is just the app which downloads the emphemeris data from HTC’s servers which speed GPS signal aquisition times. Its not very important.

Thanks, JMZ for your hard work. However, might I suggest maybe putting a little more info on the website? Parsing through 47+ pages on ppcgeeks is not exactly the most convenient way to figure out what each app does. lol! Thanks for the great work, though.

[...] The haul appears to be somewhat modest, but there are definitely a few gems—namely a stupid-fast new Opera Mobile beta and a systemwide orientation sensor. Most of these apps have been downscaled and work with current VGA Touch hardware (and some with any VGA WinMo phone), but expect a little bugginess—especially from the keyboards, which might be best avoided for now. There should be a warning on this page that some of these cabs and seriously damage your system leading to hard resets. I thought these cabs where done deals, tested and ready for consumption.
The Touch Diamond 2 SIP keyboard breaks the Touch Pro’s hardware keyboard mapping and the files are uninstallable, so if you don’t have your device backed up you’re screwed. Beware!
