HTC Touch Pro 2 vs Xperia X1 photo gallery
Still with AreaMobile, they have published a gallery of pictures showing the HTC Touch Pro 2 vs the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.
In some ways the devices are direct competitors, having similar specs (QWERTY slider, WVGA screen), but of course the Xperia appears slimmer and has a much smaller screen than the Touch Pro 2, which is obvious from the pictures published.
However while the Xperia sports a real metal case, the Touch Pro 2 is merely chromed plastic, and AreaMobile.de is not too happy with the hinge mechanism of the Touch Pro 2, despite its much greater angle. Lastly, the missing 3.5mm headphone jack on the larger Touch Pro 2 will be lamented by many.

Unfortunately, while the Touch Pro 2’s screen looks the biz, the rest of the phone looks like crap. Just based on pure aesthetics, give me an X1 or even the original Touch Pro any day over that big piece of bleh.

I agree with you. I am not feeling the design of the new Touch Diamond and Pro. Its as if they fired their design company and moved everything in house again.

I couldn’t put my finger on it, but you’re right! It harkens a return to the HTC Kaiser days. In fact, if you take away the multitude of buttons on the Kaiser (ATT Tilt), you have a mini Touch Pro 2.

If you check further down on the WMPoweruser homepage, you’ll see a comparison between the iPhone, Diamond, and Diamond II. That should give you somewhat of an idea or how the TP2 will far in comparison to the TP.
