Samsung Omnia still tops Krussel’s smartphone list, iPhone nowhere to be seen
Krussel has been keeping track of their top devices buying cases for ages now. They record sales originating in 50 countries on 6 continents and they pride themselves on having a pretty good finger on the pulse of the market.
According to their monthly list of best selling devices the Samsung Omnia has maintained its top dog position which it has held since November 2008, after pushing the October 2008 best seller, the iPhone, to the number 4 spot. Since then the iPhone has fallen completely of the list, and the Samsung Omnia has ruled the roost, being number 1 in November, January ,February and now March.
Of course previously we have seen accusations that the data does not necessarily reflect real popularity, but we have recently seen data that suggest the Samsung Omnia is possibly the most popular Windows Mobile device around, topping smartphone tables all around Europe.
It will be interesting to see whether the Omnia maintains this position once it transitions to a Symbian-powered version in the near future.
The list for March 2009 is as follows:
Krusell – TOP-10 selling phones in March 2009.
1. (1) Samsung SGH-i900/i910 Omnia
2. (7) Nokia 3109
3. (3) Nokia 6300
4. (2) HTC Touch HD
5. (8) Nokia E71
6. (4) Nokia E51
7. (10) Nokia 3120
8. (8) Nokia 5800
9. (5) Blackberry Storm
10. (-) Samsung M8800

I don’t like the iPhone but I have to say this is a horrible way of comparing phone sales. I am sure the iPhone has sold more than any of these phones. People just buy cases for it from the stores.
