Microsoft to offer Windows Mobile 6.5 high fashion themes, theme maker
Through new partnerships with the Design Museum London and Council of Fashion Designers of America, Microsoft will offer a variety of free designer themes to help people express their personal style on Windows® phones. Microsoft today announced Mizrahi as the first in a series of designers to create exclusive themes, including colour palettes and wallpaper. Other designers will be announced in the coming months.
“Phones are just as much a fashion statement as the clothes you wear,” said Mizrahi, fashion designer and TV personality. “As a designer, I’m excited to team up with Microsoft to bring forth fresh and funky new ways for people to make their Windows® phones a part of their personality. Cast aside your old black phone, and make this year about colour and fun.”
In addition, the new Theme Generator will provide people with yet another way to personalize their Windows® phone. The Theme Generator, available at http://www.windowsmobile.com later this year, will enable Windows® phone users to select pictures from their PC to set as background images, as well as choose colours to personalize their navigation bar, scroll bar and highlighted text. Once finished, their personal theme will be sent to their phone.
These moves, though small, are quite significant, as Microsoft has never before focussed on the consumer side of their mobile OS like this before, and in some ways it seems almost X-Box like, suggesting Microsoft it taking their offensive on the mobile market very seriously indeed.

Also a bit surprised nothing has been posted here about current devices officially being capable of running 6.5 if an upgrade is offered. That is definitely something relevant to for example Omnia owners since Samsung hasnt yet announced a successor to the WM Omnia. I am using a beta 6.5 rom on mine and its definitely better than 6.1 despite the remaining bugs and would expose a lot of users to the new Marketplace.

6.5 does seem to be the proper effort that 6.1 should have been.
I am enjoying my cooked 6.5 rom and think its really does remove a lot of need of from apps i used to use:
the free fttouch ver 0.4 i think
fingertouch- recent fav for 6.1
today screen plug ins…..cant believe it, i have linked to comm manager with a button mapper freeware. the titanium is decent enough for every day use, if i need more calendar options i will use something like second today….
i have high hopes for 6.5, its very capable

The designs are great and I think it is good to have as many options as you can with your phone, although I must say there are getting points where it takes days if not weeks to figure them out now but the more they start to operate like a computer system the more control I will have!
The statement from Mizrahi that Phones are just as much a fashion statement as the clothes you wear is so true, it seems that everywhere you go now people are getting to the point of accessorizing their mobiles with their outfits. What a scary scary day when you can’t go out when your mobile doesn’t match your tie for the men, or your shoes for the lady!
Anyway, it is all fun really isn’t it??
