Sync your Facebook contact pictures with your smartphone with MobileSync

app_3_76086365560_9337

MobileSync is an application for Windows Mobile phones that allows you to synchronise the profile pictures of your friends on Facebook with the pictures of your contacts in your phone.

Because phone book contacts may not match with peoples real names on Facebook you first match the contacts. This matching is then stored for future synchronising.

The software is in early development but the developer intends to update the app to enhance the UI and add features like persistent login and a Facebook certificate.

Download the Mobilesync cab from here and read more about it from this Facebook page.

This app matches the obvious first, then lets you to do the remaining manual labor. The simple UI makes it very easy to use, and I’ve been using it for a while.

  • I just used the link here to drop the cab onto mystorage card where I then installed it to the mystorage card area.

The applicatino appears ONLY in the remove application area of my Samsung Omnia. The listing there is: “Default Company Name MobileSync”

I cannot locate this on the phone as an installed application that I can run. What is BOOKSYNC??

    Please help.

I use ThumbLink, a facebook interface for Windows Mobile. It is designed to be usable with one thumb, allwing you to flick lists up or down. You can see your friends and their status, view and create albums, and even upload photos.

Version 2.0 adds support for non-touchscreen phones, and will update your contacts with their facebook photos where it can match the name.

It’s only $4.95, and you can see a demo video here: http://wugland.com/ThumbLink.html

Nice bit of software; works great for me!

One thing I may suggest is to add the ability to chose which facebook picture to set as the contact picture (from the "profile pictures" facebook album). This is the only bit of functionality I'm missing after giving up on spbhome.

    Thanks for the app!

For some reason there's a couple of my friend's profile pics which won't update on my phone book. I'm using a HTC TP2 and most of them sync up but there's just an odd few which don't. Eventhough they clearly are linked the profile. I've tried removing from the link to facebook and linking them again but it doesn't work. I've also tried manually updating profile pic, etc. Is there any way to resolve this? Thanks.

This article is misleading – the title should read "Pocket PC," not smartphone, as the app does not currently support non-touch devices (ie, smartphones).
