Windows Mobile 6.5 standard looks like….. Windows Mobile 6.1
Below is a video of Windows Mobile 6.5 running on the Motorola Q9H, and the major impression is that it looks almost exactly the same as Windows Mobile 6.1, most clearly illustrated by the list-based settings page.
With non-touch screen based smartphones of the Blackberry variety dominating the US smartphone market at present Microsoft should ask themselves whether directing some eye candy in the direction of Standard may not have paid of dividends also.

I think they’ve given up on the 6x series.

i agree. just putting a bandaid on current devices until 7. although i have been happy with my hacked omnia and 6.5. this video is on the crappy q9h with a 1X1 screen. 6.5 actually looks ok and improves it, but i agree the settings is sooo 6.1. too bad. they could have integrated the 6.5 start menu easily.

On the other hand, WM6.1 Standard got the new carousel, while the Pro/Classic versions had almost no visible changes.

Yeap. When you look at it they seem to rotate between the two. As the Pro version of 6.5 looks like it lifts a lot of the stuff they added to 6.1 standard.

What’s the point of posting blurry-shakey-cam of this if you can download WinMo6.5 emulator and record perfect videos of everything

and 6.1 looks almost entirely the same as 6.0…..
looks like a good opportunity to jump ship and try the iphone for a while…. and seeing as hulu is now not letting skyfire access its content, there’s one less reason to stay with winmo for me….

Yep. However, there is big difference from the developer POV: really it was starting with releasing 6.1.4.. – now ISV can make their own home screen plugins supporting Sliding panels layouts, in case of original 6.1 Standard it was and it is disaster because only one “custom plugin” can be fully operable(did you hear these “collapsed panels hiding things”?). Anyway, making sliding panels for the 6.x Standard as well as for the 6.5 Professional is still undocumented. Shame on them…
