Windows Mobile 6.5 build 21925 in video
Pocketnow has published this video of the latest build of Windows Mobile 6.5 showing the more finger-friendly tabs.
Renowned ROM hacker l3v5y claims this version, called Windows Mobile 6.5.1 will be released in January 2010, with the Samsung Jackie being the first device to get it.
WM6.5.1 is set to bring huge change in the UI from current builds, with more finger friendly versions of everything, and even new controls.Other changes in 6.5.1 include OS based AGPS, using Microsoft’s servers rather than the carrier ones. According to l3v5y WM6.5.1 is also being built on CE5.2 and CE6, so may need new bootloaders.
The latest builds from Da_G and others (21925 and 21928) include some of the new UI components and rumoured AT&T version of The HTC Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2 will also get updates to WM6.5.1.
One striking thing about the video is how attractive most of the interface is, until one gets to the actual setting screens. Again I hope Microsoft is able to finish the job to ensure a very important smooth and consistent user experience.

in any of the windows mobile 6.5 rom builds you can swipe your left and right if there are multiple tabs…therefore, you don’t have to hit the tab to go there, u can just swipe your finger in that direction….in the “about” sreen, in the “phone options” screen, backlight settings screen….this functionality is there in all the 6.5 builds and is only in build 21925. it’s just that they switched up the look of the UI a little….I want them to add back the animations that were there in the early builds.

Whats soo evil about using a stylus?you can have huge amount’s of info on screen that
can be used with a stylus without,scrolling,swiping,zooming,panning…..or has the act of getting there become more important?

I love it how MS is going to release what they’ve got, but wait another 5 months to introduce something “new.” Their desktop OSes are far from perfect, why are they even worried to have a mobile OS that is any different. If they had just perfected OTA updates for the Windows directory, then they could worry about pushing out make-overs later.

I rather think that we will have both 6.5.1 and 7 but on different devices. Those that will get released with 6.5 but won’t meet the requirements of 7(ex. Touch Pro2) will be updated even further to 6.5.2 but those that will meet the requirements(ex. Toshiba K01) will be updated to 7.
This is the best thing MS could do right now. It would keep everybody happy. Besides if 6.5.1 is supposed to be similar to 7 that could mean that they are developed at the same time and are at the same stage of development but are targeting different class of devices.
