HTC Mega picture and specs

Ai.rs blog has done it again with a new render and specs for the HTC Mega, HTC attack on the low end Windows Mobile market.
Besides the low res screen it seems a pretty decent device. Interestingly Loke Uei from the Windows Mobile team has told developers they should not need to be developing for QVGA anymore, which may leave owners with stranded in the future.

like…how low end is this thing going to be? free w/ a contract. considering that you can easily pick up a touch pro 2 on t mobile for 150, and you can find touch pros on various carriers for free to 99 bucks depending on the carrier, who would really want to buy an underspec'd phone just to save a tiny bit of cash. i think i've seen some windows mobile standard phones like the snap going for next to nothing after various promotions as well.

Hey buddy, In US, you can say so. But not in every other part of the world. In India, the Touch Pro 2 is not launched yet but its rumored to be launched at 35000 Indian Rupees. Now that calculates to USD 750 approx and that is by no means cheap here, its one of the costliest WinMo phone. 98% phones here are sold unlocked, not carrier bounded. So in markets like these, devices like Mega can prove to be a success.
Anyways, if the res was VGA, it would have been much better. QVGA is phasing out now, even for cooking a 6.5 ROM at QVGA, the sources are hard to find

The US has very odd contract terms though. In the rest of the world there is scope for saving money with a low end device like this. It will be free, with a cheaper monthly contract as well and maybe a shorter contract period.
