Xperia X2 price confirmed

X2_FrontOpen_Horizontal_ELEGANT_BLACK_0005__ill_Latin_2

Putting to rest rumours that the Xperia X2 will cost up to 800 Euros (around $1200), Solapalmari was able to confirm with a Sony Ericsson senior executive the device will ion fact be between 590 and 600 Euro (around $880).  This is on the high end of previous estimates which placed it between 500 and 600 Euro, but not unexpected.

It does price the device a bit higher than its most direct competitor, the HTC Touch Pro 2, currently sells for €449,99, but then the Touch Pro 2 does lack the 8 megapixel camera with dual flash of the X2, 3.5mm headphone jack and of course the Sony Ericsson name. Its other competitor, the Samsung Omnia Pro, has not been priced yet.

Thanks Raggio for the tip.

Is this 600€ including VAT? Samsung Omnia Pro is available for 469€ (VAT included) in Belgium, and I've seen it for about 430€ (still including VAT) in Germany. So this has a bigger screen, faster CPU, 3.5mm jack and USB interface (both with covers!), slightly lower specced cam, fully customised TouchWiz UI vs Panels layer, and it doesn't look half bad. I hardly see any reason of preferring X2 over it. If you really want an Xperia, you can just as well go for a much better looking X1 IMO.

I agree! X2 is just a 'facelift' of X1. Same specs except of camera (useless for many..).
Moreover, too bad is that they made this new optical dpad (useless as well)..

it's just STUPID to buy 528mzh cpu phone at 1G snapdragon phone prices!
i dont mind paying 900$ for 1G phone, this slow junk X2 is 50% slower!
shouldnt the price be 50% cheaper at 450$ ?

The only advantage of this phone is the 3g band for the USA. Omnia Pro won’t have this for us in the States. Is the extra price going to be worth it? I doubt it, and I was so hoping not to get a TP2!!! Yes I know, there’s Acer m900, but no TV-Out.

Wow, Sony is really determined to fail in the smartphone market. What drugs are they smoking? You can get a Touch Pro 2 from verizon for 549 full price. Sorry, but this phone simply isnt that special to warrant $800.

you fail at realizing touch pro 2 was worth almost 800 unlocked when it first came out on the market. And also the touch pro 2 has been out for at least half a year shown by it's lesser price. I'm not an SE fan, been with nokia for a long time. But your inability to do your research before complaining makes me question what drugs you are smoking.

Let's wait and see how fast the price drops. I think they left the price so high so it wouldn't force a drop in price in the X1 too early.
