HTC Leo caught on video, proven to have a multi-touch screen
The above video from PocketPT.net proves that the HTC Leo has a multi-touch screen, an issue that has not been confirmed before and has recently been drawn into question by Pocketnow. The power of the Snapdragon processor is also clear with the smooth zooming of the video in HTC Album.
PocketPT.net has confirmed multi-touch zooming in the picture, video application, and also the maps and browser.

Thanks Ricardo Chaves from PocketPT.net for the tip.

Holy crap that device is fast!
[Reply]
not as fast as I expected…
picture zooming shows lag
[Reply]
I WANT!!!
[Reply]
Are you kidding?! It's much faster than anything I've seen so far…
Probably it's your computer that lags because it's scared by the Leo's unbelievable power!
[Reply]
Hopefully it will get update to WM7 if not I don't see a point in buiying such an advanced device that could easily run WM7(no matter how advanced it would be) and get stuck with WM6.5.1 at best.
But nevertheless – Impressive!
Can't wait to see LEO with keyboard, USB host and miniHDMI out!

The Leo is a jab in the face of every stupid iPhone fanboy!
Take that, Apple! This blows away everything!

@maati
got your reply to my previous comment through mail, can't find it here.
I too want Leo to be a monster, but take for example zune HD, its alot faster than this. Yes, that has got only a 480 x 272 screen to deal with. What about HTC's own diamond 2 ? Seriuosly, is this that much faster than daimond 2 with zoombar ?
The zooming, at least in the above video, obviously lags.

Are you sure your computers not just being shit and jumpy? Im not seeing any lag?
[Reply]
I watched the video again and again to make sure it's not my computer's problem.
Maybe "lag" isn't the right word for it. I mean it's not as smooth as say zune hd.
Look at the first zooming, the screen kinda hops to its final state just before zooming is finished. Yeah it's a small jump, but it's there. Hope it's just a prototype issue !

Considering it is not even finished yet and probably final firmware is still developed I won't judge it until the final version arrives but even at this stage it is as good as iPhone and better than Android.

@mohsen
that's strange.
But really, from all the videos, the Zune HD doesn't seem faster at all. And I really can't see any lag there.

@mohsen
Just read your latest comment, now I see what you mean by "lag". This is actually indended, it's called threshold. I don't like that either, but maybe it's adjustable via registry, just like the scrolling threshold.

@mohsen
Actually, it IS instant. Definitely better than on Android and iPhone.

Is anyone noticed memory usage at 0:54… It's pretty high..
BTW, it's definetely my next device.. Multitouch + Capacitive screen.. Well done HTC : )
[Reply]
So according to this:
http://pocketnow.com/rumor/the-leo-may-not-have-a...
The screen seems to be resistive. Is it possible that this be one of those new resistive multi-touch screens ? The technology stantum showed off a year ago?

@ Reason4444
i dont think its memory. i think its battery meter

@ coolkat
have you ever used TF3D before?
@Reason4444
yikes! 84% with wifi on and HTC album open? That does seem very high. Hopefully the software is still in beta stage and memory management issues will be sorted out when this beast is released.

No that actually is memory usage. But the device is not out yet, and i'm sure the software isn't complete either.
[Reply]
Capacitive doesn't mean multitouch and multitouch doesn't mean capacitive, and one application doesn't mean multitouch. It could well be resistive plus interpolated multitouch rather than anything else.
[Reply]
how much??? release date in UK?
[Reply]
Great, capacitive is all well and good, but you know what, is it really easier to zoom in/out by pinching rather just double tapping on the screen?
Maybe it's just that I've not used a capacitive screen for any large amount of time, but it seems like a hassle.
At any rate, this device is very tempting hardware-wise but I really dislike the bland looks and the fact it might still be stuck on the ancient WM6.5.x and not WM7.

So… say ‘byebye’ to our Styluses?!
