Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade coming…. eventually
Sprint has let it be known in their forums that they and HTC are working on an official Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade for the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2.
14-Jan-2010
Windows Mobile 6.5 Planned for HTC Touch Pro2 from Sprint
Sprint and HTC are currently developing a release of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the HTC Touch Pro2 that is expected to be available to customers by end of first quarter, 2010. This upgrade will not only provide updates to the Windows Mobile platform, but also significant enhancements to the Touch Pro2 user interface which will allow additional customization/personalization options and more integration with the applications users access most.
Of course most people who really wanted it are probably running a hacked ROM by now, but if you want to be sure about preserving your warranty official is the only way to go, so this development is certainly long overdue good news.
Does anyone expect anything unusual about the upgrade, like Windows Mobile 6.5.3 for example? Let us know below.

Hotfixes available for HTC Touch Pro 2 and Pure – auto-update for Windows Mobile NEARLY worked for once
The Update icon in Windows Mobile has always been a bit of a joke, but it seems there is some grumblings of it actually working for once.
With HTC’s recent release of updates for the AT&T HTC Tilt2 and HTC Pure, FuzeMobility reports that updates were in fact detected by the Windows Update utility on Windows Mobile, but when he attempted to use it it unfortunately failed to download the hotfixes.
Well since the Pure has a hotfix available I figured I’d see if it could be picked up from the phone so I went to Settings – System – AT&T Software Updates and shockingly it found an update. Then I tried to install it and seemingly nothing happened and then I got a text that it failed to work.I repeated a few times, soft reset, toggled the proxy…same result each time. … Of course, this is still a far cry from the phone telling me that there’s an update available without the user needing to do anything…and of course it didn’t actually install any updated. But hey, it’s baby steps, right?
Since we have to get the hotfix the usual way, read about them below:
Hotfix: Inconsistent Caller ID function on the HTC PURE/Tilt 2. | 12.17.2009
This Hotfix when installed prevents inconsistent behavior of the Caller ID function on the device
Hotfix: HTC PURE/ Tilt2 Freezes in SMS application. | 12.17.2009
This Hotfix when installed prevents the device from becoming sluggish and/or freezing in the SMS application on the device
The Tilt 2 downloads are available here and the Pure downloads are available here.

More HTC HD2, Diamond2 and Pro2 handwriting, camera hotfixes released
HTC’s support staff have clearly not gone home for Christmas yet. They have released two hotfixes, one for the HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Touch Pro 2 which brings back hand writing recognition to these devices for users who prefer their graffiti to the hard and soft QWERTY keyboards
Update for HTC Touch Pro2 Handwriting
This update for HTC Touch Pro2 lets you write the way you want to. Now in addition to the full QWERTY keypad, simulating a full physical keyboard experience, HTC Touch Pro2 now offers handwriting recognition to give you more flexibility in your messaging to send messages to your loved ones.
Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting
This update for HTC Touch Diamond2 lets you write the way you want to. Now in addition to the full QWERTY keypad, simulating a full physical keyboard experience, HTC Touch Diamond2 now offers handwriting recognition to give you more flexibility to send messages to your loved ones.
The last one, wrapped in HTC’s flowery language, seems to address a HTC HD2 issue where the camera can not write pictures to more than 8GB of a 16 GB memory card.
Update for HTC HD2 SD Card Storage Capacity
This update for HTC HD2 further extends support of the SD Storage Capability. Taking pictures with your 5 Megapixel lens and dual LED flash can only truly be appreciated at the maximum quality, and now with this update, you will be able to appreciate how much more you can store in your 8GB or more SD Card.
