Here is an interesting bit of news.  A help page for the HTC HD2 has just been discovered on Orange UK’s website.  It has previously been believed that the network would skip the HTC HD2, as it already had the 4.1 inch Toshiba TG01, and has recently acquired the iPhone.

There is however no device exactly like the HTC HD2, and I am sure many Windows Mobile users on Orange would appreciate having access to the great device.

While the help page is up, Orange’s web shop only acknowledges the HCT Hero and Tattoo, meaning now is not the time to rush to the store.

Hopefully we will learn more soon.

HTC has finally released an official Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM for the HTC Touch Pro 2 on Orange UK.

Like other updates from HTC, this version will also bring an updated version of TouchFlo3D 2.1.

Not the news which our UK readers want to hear, but I am sure our Romanian ones are pretty happy. 

In an interview with Actmedia.eu Orange Romania, Romania’s biggest network with 10 million subscribers,  have confirmed they will be releasing the powerful HTC HD2 on their network in December.

“We expect to sell a few thousand units and in December we will launch HTC HD2. This model is in stock but does not have applications Windows Mobile 6.5 installed yet”, said Razvan Sturza, M2M Proposition manager Orange. 

For those not prepared to wait the HTC Touch2,  HTC Touch Pro 2 and Toshiba TG01 will be available right now, all with Windows Mobile 6.5 already on board.

According to the marketing director of Microsoft Romania, Dan Bulucea, Windows Mobile is doing quite well in Romania, having seen sales double in the last year.

Coolsmartphone reports that hopes for an Orange HTC HD2 have been dashed, with Orange’s official twitter rep denying that the device is coming to the network, and Coolsmartphone being able to verify this from their other sources.

That leaves O2 and T-Mobile as the only confirmed carriers for the device, but rumours of a Vodafone debut continues to bubble under.

Good news for our French compatriots.  Mobifrance reports that they have been tipped of to the news that the HTC Leo AKA HTC Touch HD2 is coming to Orange France on the 12th November.

At present no further information or pricing is available, and it is not known yet if the smartphone will also be coming to Orange UK.

Coolsmartphone reports that the Samsung Omnia Lite, Samsung’s lower-end device in their current range, will be coming soon to CarPhoneWarehouse for free on a £30/month Orange contract.

The Omnia Lite’s specs are not far off from the specs of the original Samsung Omnia released last year, with a 3 inch WQVGA screen, 3 megapixel camera, aGPS, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi , a 1500mAh battery and of course Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, all powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.

The Samsung Omnia 2 is yet to reach UK shores, but should arrive soon.

This is a completely unsubstantiated rumour, but we have heard the HTC Leo is destined for the Orange UK cell network. 

Orange is already the home the Toshiba TG01, and is widely know to use extremely desirable devices to attract subscribers to their ridiculous data plans.

The sleek device is expected to arrive before the end of the year.
