Locus OS – cool location-based mobile OS UI from Microsoft
Istartedsomething.com noticed this cool concept UI by Barton Smith, an Australian designer, which shows what a location-based user interface would look like on a mobile device.
It seems to have elements to Zune and Android widgets and even TouchFlo3D.
It seems pretty lustworthy to me. What do our readers think? Let us know below.

Pocketnow has discovered that the latest version of HTC Sense 2.5 build 2011 contains one particularly useful feature – the ability to delete e-mail directly from the Sense interface.
While this is a welcome addition, and another indication that HTC continues to refine their interface, I think adding a small menu item really shows a failure of imagination.
On this occasion the easy and fast deletion of e-mail really calls for a multi-touch gesture, possible in the form of scrunching the email up. Not only would this have been an amazing visual (and possibly auditory) effect, but would have helped move us even further away from the WIMP UI.
So in short HTC, thank you, but how about trying harder next time?
HTC’s latest Sense build can be downloaded in NRG’s ROM at XDA-Dev here.
Can any of our readers think of more places were gestures could be used instead of menu items? Let us know below.

SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 on the HTC HD2 – silky smooth
The above video shows the SPB Mobile Shell UI replacement running on the HTC HD2. The software appears to take full advantage of both the fast processor and graphics acceleration, delivering a flawless experience.
If there is one criticism however it is that i appears relatively easy to lose your place in the user interface and be scrolling and flipping around for ages trying to find the icon or setting you are looking for.
If however you are a bit tired of Sense this certainly seems to be the most polished way of reviving your HTC HD2.
Read more about SPB Mobile Shell here. It is also available in our software store for $29.95.

HTC HD now running with Android 2.1 and Sense UI
The World of Windows Mobile has been compromised by Android. The HTC HD, which was once the best Windows Mobile devices is slowly becoming the best Android ported device. Earlier this week an Android port was made for the HD and that port came with Sense UI and Android 2.1 software. That means if you own an HD and have the newest dual booting system, you can get this going on your device. The files can be found on XDA and remember this is not perfect yet, they are some missing things like:

Will Windows Mobile 7 look like Windows Mobile 6.5.3?
Making a bit more hay from the msftkitchen UI development screen shot, if one blows up the screen pretty far, its clear on that particular screen is similar to the twist UI seen in Windows Mobile 6.5.3, with the swypable screens and text labels on top.
Of course this makes perfect sense, as Windows Mobile 6.5.3 is meant to be the low rent version of Windows Mobile 7, and co-exist at the same time. It makes sense that they share the same look and feel, but does limit the amount of UI innovation we can expect to see in the OS.
Do our readers think WM7 and 6.5.3 will look very similar? Let us know below.

Detailed LG eXpo user interface overview
Pocketnow have published this video showing a detailed overview of the LG eXpo user interface. Interestingly the business-focussed device ships with the default Windows Mobile 6.5 user interface, with LG’s own pretty nice efforts hidden rather deeply.
Once uncovered however the result is quite attractive, and would make the smartphone much more consumer friendly if enabled by default.
Do any of our readers have an Expo yet? Let us know your experience below.
