Amazon Cloud Player also works with Windows Phone 7 Mango Beta 2

So we can stream music from SkyDrive, but the UI is far from ideal. It turns out IE9 is just as good at playing music from Amazon’s Cloud Player also. The UI is of course designed for the large screen, but is still miles better than choosing one song at a time from SkyDrive.

Who needs flash again?

The problem with Zune pass and other subscription services is that many older users have already completed their collections, and may buy very little more music, making a monthly payment poor value for money. Being able to stream your existing music collection from the 80′s and 90′s for free makes a lot more sense.

I guess if you already have every piece of music you’ll ever want then it’s not worth it but I’m betting that’s a small minority group. For the rest of us Zune Pass is a great value. Especially if you take advantage of the 10 credits a month.

The benefit of having a Zune pass subscription is definitely there for people who have a ton of music already. You can explore all of the new content that is coming out every day and get access to those songs that may not get airplay, but are just as good. I have over 50 GB of music and love that I get to try new albums and listen to songs I would otherwise have to pay for first. Either way I think that the $15 it costs a month is worth every penny.

I fit that bill but I disagree. I am an older user with a large (50+gigs) collection that is very tailored to my tastes but the “Smart DJ” function in Zune makes it worth every penny. It finds stuff that I have forgotten about or rarely heard and reintroduces it to me. I probably have accumulated a couple of hundred downloaded tunes of “Zune Pass” and I use the 10 tune credits as soon as I get them. ZUNE is awesome and I don’t understand why MS doesn’t push it or “Zune Pass” more.

MS should really roll out Zune Pass in more countries, plus make the 10 free songs available everwhere (in Europe its 10EUR without 10 songs)!

Hopefully some ingenious dev will make an app that is able to grab the index, build a playlist, and setup controls for web stored videos and music. I know I would love to have an app that has the ability to not just setup playlists of music, but be able to build one for videos as well. Since it is clear that streaming from these cloud services will be possible perhaps an unofficial or official app will not be far behind the release of Mango.

The one thing that really bothers me when using IE9 to stream Amazon Cloud is that every time the screen locks on my samsung, Amazon will not play the following song. I have to go back into the browser and click play again. Is there any way to avoid this rather than unlocking the screen every time a song is coming to an end?
