Android HTC Touch HD2 rumour stupid, wrong

There is a rather nefarious rumour going round that HTC has displaced Windows Mobile on its upcoming HTC Touch HD successor. The source of the rumour is The Register, quoting an unnamed source, probably a company rep more familiar with the coffee machine than HTC’s roadmaps.
Of course most people familiar with HTC’s rumoured devices know of the real HTC Touch HD successor, the HTC Leo, which strangely enough runs the same OS HTC is said to have shunned, Windows Mobile 6.5.
The HTC Leo is as much as confirmed, with the actual ROM running on numerous HTC devices. That’s more than can be said of this vaporous Android HD2.
Now this does not mean I don’t think an Android version of the Touch HD2 exists or will be sold – HTC is very much a dual OS company at the moment, but its rather foolish to ignore months of evidence of a Windows Mobile successor just because of one unsourced rumour.

Damn right!
Android may be good, but it's not going to be the successor to a WM device…
Totally agree. I wondered what these people where smoking for a while there.
How do you know that the Touch HD2 Android = Leo, and not a different beast altogether?
It doesn't matter which OS will runs on "Touch HD2." HTC needs a large WVGA touchscreen device for Android and for WM, if it's going to compete with Samsung, LG, Toshiba, SE, and others.
