Another photo of the Nokia Sabre leaks, confirms tiny screen, but is it real?

sabrephoto

Nokia-603-e1319177338618WPCentral have been sent this supposed leaked shot of the Nokia Sabre, showing the device to feature a very small 3.5 inch screen.

The device also lacks any way to switch cameras, indicating no front facing camera.

On the other hand, the strategic location of that thumb over the Windows key does make me rather suspicious of a hoax, especially given the resemblance of the handset to the recently released Nokia 603 (right).

Do our readers think the device is real, or just Nokia throwing us off the trail? Let us know below.

600 series would be different than Sabre wouldn’t it?
Sabre is supposed to be the 700 series.
    SeaRay is the 800 series.
    Ace is the 900 series??

This could be a new phone. Maybe they will announce 4 phones next week.

  • adam baker

why do you keep saying 3.5inch is too small? I know Apple have not done so badly at this screen size and I know some men who get by just fine at this size xD

  • Mr. Santos

    I say it’s real.
Nokia already have a phone, the 603. Now with the lowering demand on Symbian phones, I guarantee that not a lot of people are going to see the 603 in the shops.
This way Nokia are able to significantly reduce phone-to-market times. In essence, the ‘shell’ was there: maybe all Nokia had to do was swap the processing chip with a Qualcomm one and maybe increase the internal memory to a minimum of 8gb, if it wasn’t already. That way no time is lost in brainstorming and designing a new product, all those meeting with ideas on deciding what the product will look like, no time lost in programming the machines to manufacture the new design, suppose the first ones needed millimetre adjustments, no time lost in weeks of trying out the prototype. All in all, by ‘recycling’ something that is already there I reckon Nokia managed to save themselves around 2 months, and I complain about other OEMs recycling Android designs for Windows Phones but at this point Nokia just needs to have something on the market, and quick!
Next year they will have the time to sit down and come out with amazing products as they always do. Next year, Nokia will go big!

I do think its real. Do you see how they are covering the surrounding area and what the camera captures?

It could be fake, but it would be a really good fake.

Btw, its decent looking. Really suitable for women.

I missed it before, but it definitely looks fake. The UI doesn’t align in the first leaked image, and it’s not centered correctly in this one.

        Hmmm maybe you are right.

  • http://twitter.com/oslicek David Petrla

    99% fake.

I hope this is just some disinformation campaign from Nokia, otherwise Sabre = 603, SeaRay = N9, Ace is what?  N 950?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_KTAHVKS2RNDWTQPHQEJALLRNEQ Adam Paris

Nokia will have to use current design to produce phones. Next year they will be able to give Windows Phone their own design.

There is no 4.3 Symbian or Meego device, so the Ace will have something unique ;)

      • http://twitter.com/Johannespreekt Johannespreekt

There is one picture of 3 phones floating around with a unique device and I think it will be the Ace. It is a phone that can standup on itself when it is being called, very nice.

Sadly for you this is not fake …

I think that it’s real… I love the design of these devices anyway…the fact that they will run WP7 make them look more desirable than ever…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_5ZUD73FFTF3JFLR64AD62R7Q6I Eric

    Ugly.
I hope it’s fake. I don’t believe Nokia would dare propose this oldfashioned and ugly design.

    fake

I doubt it is fake. Sure it looks like the 603, but the fact that the thumb supposedly covers the Windows button doesn’t support that is a fake in my opinion. The visible buttons doesn’t have the same form as those on the 603. Doesn’t make sense to fake it in this manner.

I think it is reasonable that Nokia at least have experimented with putting WP on hardware designs whichs were already ready. If they will put them on a market is another thing.

This is obviously Nokias flagship! It will sell the shit out of iPhone.
    RIP Apple.

To me its looks like a fake…See the round/’O'/lens in the bing search button key – its not perfectly rounded and the bottom part of it is diff compared to the upper part.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-Matthews/100000189923615 James Matthews

I think it’s real.  It’s perfectly reasonable that if the Sea Ray is basked on the N9 that the Sabre would be based on the 603.  The only thing that bugs me is that the Sabres 3.5 in screen res is only 640×360.  Now that I think about it though, the N9 has a 3.9 in 854×480 screen.  How is it that the Sea Ray is only 3.7 in?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pradyuman-Vig/100001076901964 Pradyuman Vig

It is 3.7 inches because of the capacitative Windows, back, and search buttons…

At the end of the day, the phone clearly states ‘proto.nokia.com’

Nokia World 2011…5 days and counting.

  • Reese Cooper

    Don’t see a dedicated camera button…

  • Anonymous

I’m not buying this one just yet.

The picture on the screen looks like it was pasted on to the picture

  • http://www.facebook.com/aerosmillie David Smillie

I think i remember the SeaRay having hardware buttons in the early prototype version?!?!?

  • Anonymous

Open the picture in photoshop, and zoom in on where it says, “Property of Nokia not for sale” and the proto.nokia.com bit.

Looks a lot like the text was added on to the picture afterwards and the person didn’t do a great job with it.

    • rsgx

      Exactly.

Both the leaked images have lots of evidence of poor Photoshop work.
