AT&T To get 8 million WP7 devices?

Not that we have much more to go on than this, but if this is true, it looks like WP7 could be making a rather large splash for a first generation of a new platform. Maybe that iPhone relationship is going stale?

If that is true (big if when dealing with info from Gartenberg) then it suggest that the Iphone will probably be realease to additional carriers. So At&t is preparing to compete outside of it's currently walled garden.

Yeah, that is a lot of phones for ATT. iPhone non-ATT exclusive (2011 by all accounts) opens up WP7 for a 4 carrier push.

While the obvious choice seems to be Verizion, that is no lock (see Steve Jobs overall flakey-ness, CDMA vs GSM & VZA $100 million Driod advertising blitz. If it were Verizon then expect WP7 to be somewhat neglected somewhat by Verizon in retail & customer advertising (not so much verizon business).
