High Resolution Support and Voice Commands now available with OneShot 4.0

OneShot

OneShot, the camera app with real-time photo effects, received the next major update that bumps the app to version 4.0. The update contains some great improvements as well as some very interesting features.

  • High resolution support: With today’s release, OneShot gets full resolution support for the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia Lumia 1520. That means you are now able to take pictures with over 38 MP (20 MP for 1520). If you have the Lumia 1020 or 1520, you will see the high resolutions to be available for all aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9, 1:1). Get even more out of your beautiful photos taken with OneShot!
  • JPEG compression adjustment: Besides enabling high resolution support we also improved the default compression rate of taken photos. We decreased the compression rate so that your pictures have more quality by default. Moreover, you can adjust this option in the settings menu and choose between High, Medium and Low.
  • Voice control: With today’s release, I’m very excited to say that OneShot 4.0 gets voice control so that you are now able to use your voice for triggering the shutter release. Just enable voice control in the settings menu and start taking pictures by using the phrases “take picture” or “take photo”. We currently support English as the only language for voice control, so you need at least one English language installed on your Windows Phone.
In order to be able to use voice commands on your Windows Phone, you need to go to the Windows Phone’s settings menu and check the option “Enable Speech Recognition Service”. This is a central place to have control over speech recognition for all apps.
  • GPS: OneShot 4.0 introduces GPS tagging of your photos, so your pictures will now contain the exact location they were taken at. If you do not wish to have this option enabled, please go to the Windows Phone settings menu, swipe over to “applications” and then choose “photos+camera”. There you can adjust the option “Include location info in pictures I take”.
  • Macro favorite button: OneShot’s favorite button has been one of the significant features since the first release, so it is just natural that we extended this feature with some more options over time. The latest release of OneShot receives another favorite button which switches the current capture mode to the macro mode.

  • Fun effectsWith version 3.5 we are introducing two new categories in the sidebar, one of them is called ‘FX Fun’. The older filters Stamp, Sketch and Cartoon also moved from the FX category to the new FX Fun category.

OneShot V3 now available with 8 new camera modes, auto straightening and more

OneShot

Today OneShot received the next major update that bumps the app to version 3.0. The update contains some great improvements as well as some very interesting new features.

  • Camera modes: With today’s release, you are now able to choose between 8 camera modes that help you switch between camera settings more easily. We included the modes M (Manual), P (Program), Portrait, Macro, Scenic and three custom modes.
All modes except M and P save settings of the sidebar. We experienced that users need at least one mode that always starts with settings that are convenient for a wide variety of shots and that can be used for spontaneous shots. So we included two modes that don’t save any settings and will always be reset after a relaunch of the app. This also helps preventing from having some specific settings that don’t fit to the current scene.
  • Auto straightening: In addition to the new camera modes we also added a new feature called “Auto straightening”. This featured helps you to align the photo to the horizon afterwards. OneShot collects additional data with the phone’s accelerometer so that the photo can be straightened automatically. You can find this feature in the integrated photo editor.
  • Live straightening: While auto straightening adjusts the rotation afterwards, live straightening can adjust the rotation in real-time while taking a picture. This setting is disabled by default and can be enabled using the the settings menu. Live rotation works until a rotation of 25° has been reached. If the rotation is more that 25° we assume that users want to take photos with that specific angle and no straightening will be applied.
  • Performance improvements and 1:1 resolution: OneShot comes with a new 16:9 mode, dubbed Fast Preview that brings a performance boost of around 50% to the 16:9 mode. The resolution of the final image is a bit lower since the 4:3 is getting cut for that mode. All other modes also receive a performance improvement of about 20-30% regarding the number of frames per second. OneShot V3 also comes with a new 1:1 mode that can be used for Instagram-like shots.
  • Share to Instagram: You can now share your favorite photos from OneShot to Instagram via 6tag. You can swipe right in the viewfinder to the get to the pictures list and share from this view or you can share directly from OneShot’s photo editor.
  • New settings menu: OneShot V3 comes with a new settings menu that makes it more comfortable to change system settings like auto straightening or dual save (which allows to undo effects afterwards).
  • Shutter animation: The current update brings a shutter animation that gives more visual feedback to the user when the photo capturing process has been triggered.

Minor improvements and bug fixes
QRCodeWith the latest update we also fixed an issue with the virtual horizon that was mistakenly bound to an activated steady detection. Besides that, we included some minor improvements and some other bug fixes.

SmartWakeup 2.1, an intelligent alarm clock is now available for download

SmartWakeup

Today SmartWakeup received some new updates and is now available for download in the Windows Phone Store. The app helps you to wake up well rested in the morning. Therefore, SmartWakeup uses the accelerometer to collect your movements through the night and correlates these values with your sleep phases.

Version 2.1 brings the following improvements:

Some users reported an unexpected error during the startup of the app. This issue strongly correlates to invalid files in the user’s music library as SmartWakeup loads these files for wake up sounds. This issue has been solved, so that SmartWakeup can now be used on every device.

QRCodeSmartWakeup offered a file sending service so that you can send you sleep data to your email address. Since the Windows Phone platform does not allow sending emails with attachments programmatically, we firstly used a privatly hosted web service as a forwarding service for sleep data. Since some users were experiencing problems, we switched to a third party control in the app which allows sending emails with attachments directly from the phone. You can now send your sleep data more reliable.

The email address which is used for sending sleep reports is now saved so that you only have to type it once and use it for every upcoming sleep report. The current update also contains several other minor improvements.

You can get the app for Windows Phone 7 and 8 in the Windows Phone Store. You are also very welcomed to like us on Facebook.
