i-Mates Warrior and Legionnaire: The Best Netbook-Phone (?)
Apparently i-Mate few more aces up their sleeves at Mobile World Congress. The company revealed , in addition to that credit-card sized qwerty device -now named Centurion, two more devices.
The first one, the Warrior is actually a very innovative device, as is it is basically a dock with a 10-inch XVGA screen, a dedicated battery, SD Card reader instead of a Hard Disk and an array of several ports, including HDMI. As for the for the task of providind processing power, this is up to second device that i-Mate revealed, the Legionnaire.
The latter is a Windows Mobile 6.5 handset with modern specifications like, WVGA screen, HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, microSDHC slot etc and it is supposed to act also as a touchpad when you slide it in the Warrior. Expect it during the third quarter of this year, priced approximately at $500.
While we haven’t seen the Warrior in person yet, we do know that it will also be unveiled simultaneously with the Legionnaire, for the affordable $199.

Gigabyte S1200 and Smart Zone Interface Unveiled
Engadget had a hands on with the Gigabyte’s G-Smart S1200 that uses the latest Smart Zone user interface for Windows Mobile. The device did not fail to impress the Engadget stuff, with its sleek design, built quality, full HSDPA and its 3.1-inch WVGA screen.
We talked to Gigabyte about its announcements, and it turns out they’ve designed both Smart Zone and the S1200 with aspirational feature phone users in mind — these are people who might not otherwise consider a smartphone because they’re worried about sacrificing style and ease of use in the process. To that end, the skin definitely seems to get the job done. The transition animations got choppy in places, but we felt immediately at ease with the swipe gestures for getting to different screens, and the graphics look particularly superb at these resolutions.
The rest of the specification sheet includes a a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, a microSD slot, wifi etc. The S1200 will be released this quarter in a variety of colours, but do not worry about the new Windows Mobile 6.5, since the upgrade will be offered free of charge.

i-Mate’s Latest Design Study is a Small Windows Mobile Standard Device
The::unwired had some alone time with i-Mate’s “little secret” as they call it at Mobile World Congress. The petite device is basically a design concept and doesn’t even have a name yet, but plans for production are seriously taken under consideration.
Not publicly on the show, i-mate is showing selected partners its latest design-study which even doesn’t have an official name yet! Nevertheless, I got the chance to play with it a little bit and i-mate’s Credit Card-sized “little secret” could find a good amount of friends, especially if you like Windows Mobile Standard and QWERTY keyboards; even more if you like small devices and if you say that a Samsung BlackJack or Motorola Q isn’t your size (anymore). Features and specs are yet unknown but it’s confirmed that i-mate’s “little secret” is running Windows Mobile Standard, features a camera and most likely WiFi and Bluetooth. GPS isn’t confirmed yet but hopefully it will find its way into the final device.

New Year’s Eve Spirit Uses Female Artificial Intelligence and Wants to be Your Friend
Teksoft created this simple freeware application for Windows Mobile devices, that basically is a bot that tries to have a conversation with you. The software is obviously a woman (Eve maybe?) and offers mostly blessings and wise words so don’t expect to have a meaningful chat.
You have to be careful though, with what you say to her, since the application is based on Teksoft’s STEB Engine so it can learn new words in any language from the user. You wouldn’t like to have a friend that constantly swears, would you?
Teksoft claims that the New Year’s Eve Spirit is compatible with any Windows Mobile device, both Standard and Proffesional and could easily become your virtual companion, so if you too want a new “friend” or you are just curious, click here for the cab installer.
Note: The female face on the picture above is part of the actual application.

Microsoft Skybox is MyPhone and Almost Ready
The soon to be announced SkyBox, Microsoft’s effort to a server-based cloud technology, is now called My Phone and has its own beta sign-up site.
Microsoft My Phone syncs information on your mobile phone to a storage space on a web site hosted by Microsoft. If your phone is lost or stolen, or if you upgrade to a new phone, you can easily restore the contacts, calendar appointments, photos, and other information that you stored on My Phone to a compatible new or replacement phone. Most phones that run the Windows Mobile 6 operating system are compatible with My Phone service.
Your Microsoft My Phone account gives you 200 MB of free storage on the Microsoft My Phone web site and If you accept the recommended settings, Microsoft My Phone will automatically synchronize information between your mobile phone and your Microsoft My Phone web account once per day.
Microsoft does not charge a fee for the My Phone service at this time. But the data plan you have with your mobile operator may require you to pay data-transfer charges when you use the service.
The sign up seems to be down at the moment, but expect the service to be up and running soon. For more information visit the Find out more link at My Phone site.

The Samsung C6625 while hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, is up for pre-order on Expansys. The qwerty device use Windows Mobile Standard, so the 2.6 QVGA inch screen is not a touch-screen. Finally, the C6625 seems to be the unlocked version of C6620 that costs 199 euro on contract with Italy’s TIM. You can pre-order the C6625 from Expansys for £249.99 but expected delivery dates are still unknown.
