BGR confirms the Nokia 900 for USA early 2012

According to BGR’s trusted sources, a flagship Nokia Windows Phone is coming to USA between January and February 2012 running Windows Phone Tango.

The handset will have the same features as previously leaked ie. a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen (ClearBlack of course), 1.4 ghz Processor, 8 megapixel camera, and be similar in “identity” to the Nokia Lumia 800.

The handset will apparently be accompanied by a “huge marketing blitz in the U.S. for January and February” which is of course desperately needed due to Nokia’s poor brand in USA.

The Nokia 900 (Ace) is a rumored  Windows Phone with a 4.3” ClearBlack AMOLED screen, HSPA+ data speeds, and a 1.4 GHz single-core processor. It is rumored to have an 8-megapixel rear camera and 16 GB or 32 GB of storage. Front-facing camera and gyro sensor is currently unknown. It is rumored to be released Q1 2012 on AT&T. Other country release dates are currently unknown. Full specs…

If that phone comes with 32gb or more storage it’s bought for sure.

I’ve been trying my darndest not to slap down 500+ bucks on a Titan or Focus S.  This is why.  AT&T sucks in my town, and if Nokia can put out a crazy good phone on Verizon, GAME OVER!

    • Anonymous

Kenny, Nokia is known for their telephony…perhaps a Nokia device would perform well on ATT in your town, despite ATT’s signal.  You never know…. :)

      • KennyB123

Although you could be right in some cases, my case is different. I work in some remote ranches where only Verizon maintains a strong signal.

Would love to see a WiMax WP7 phone reach the market. That’s all we have available in the Caribbean at the moment.

    • http://twitter.com/TheFightSayeth the pugnacious fight

Does Digicell have WiMax?  Lemme back up one, where in the Caribbean are you?

I hope that picture is fake because i want to see something that looks as nice as the Lumia 800.

    • tanders04

It is. It was revealed to be a fan render a long time ago. It does look better than the Symbian refreshed phone that showed up in the powerpoint though.

    F*CK AT&T!

It should have a gyroscope to compete with the flagships WP7 from Samsung, HTC, LG.

Might not be good to miss the holiday season….

    • http://twitter.com/efjay01 Ef Jay

There will always be another, its not as though this is the last holiday season ever. Maybe they should wait till the next holiday season?

      • Anonymous

The world ends mid-way through the next one, so it is kinda the last one ever.

      • Anonymous

This xmas holiday season is the best time becasue:
        * as thats when people tend to spend, by early next year, people are too busy saving up.
        * with the laclustre reception of the iPhone 4S just a few months ago, its best to take advantage of it as early as possible! Rumor is iPhone 5 will launch mid year next year… the closer Nokia gets to the release of iPhone 5, the less people want to consider Nokia as we all know how much hype and excitement surrounds a redesigned iPhone.

If they manage to tweak the Lumia 800 to accomodate a 4.3″ screen while making it thinner, this could be an awesome phone.   32GB would be nice as well, but not a deal breaker.  Just include an FFC.  I’m a regular Skype user on the desktop/laptop, and it’s the one thing I’ve been looking forward to.

I’m guessing Skype integration will be coming with Tango.

No LTE and that’s a US Fail.  AT&T is just ramping up their LTE plans.  You can’t be a ‘flagship phone’ and not support 4G bands.

Also, when are we going to see a decent phone on someone other than AT&T?  If I wanted to be with AT&T I’d have been on an iphone 4 years ago.  I’ve been struggling on T-Mobile, but I’ll need to jump back to Verizon soon, with WP7 or not.

    • http://www.facebook.com/chuckwhit Chuck Whitaker

To early to say if this will not support LTE, everything is rumors as of now

  • http://twitter.com/TheFightSayeth the pugnacious fight

It’s unfortunate that this came from BGR…I don’t trust one word from those idiots…

Nokia needs to being some LTE hardware over.

  • Anonymous

I don’t see how it can have Tango in that timeframe. NoDo and Mango were both available to developers long before the retail release, but no Tango SDK has been released to developers.

    • Anonymous

I don’t know if that is really an issue.  For one thing there isn’t really anything in Tango that devs would need imediate access to.  It isn’t like Mango where MS is dying to get some apps for it.

Also there is still quite a bit of confusion about what Tango really is.  MS has said that Nokia has a Mango build with LTE in it so it probably isn’t just that and MS already released the new chasis specs to OEMs so it isn’t just that.

Shit. No front camera. Nokia blew it

    • rsgx

      We don’t know that yet.

Also, I’m not sure I trust BGR as a reliable source.

  • http://twitter.com/ma7mgte Joel Rollins

And still no news from Verizon…

  • Anonymous

I’ve got an Lumia 800 today and it’s great. I’ve no idea why i should buy a new device. It runs very very smooth, much better than my “old” HTC 7 Trophy.

Sry for bad english, i’m from germany ;)

  • Anonymous

It is.  It was outed as a fan render awhile ago.

Problem is that the supposedly leaked n900 is just a revamped symbian phone, but I’m hoping that was just placeholder.

  • Anonymous

Part of the problem with internet tech blogs is they just turn into an echo chamber of rumors.  BGR’s “source” could easily just be repeating the same rumors that have shown up on the WP sites for awhile now.

That said I don’t think there is any doubt that the “ace” is a real phone and that the timeline is going to stand up.  Elop and others at Nokia have pretty much said as much. There is no doubt that Nokia knows it has to bring an ‘A’ game in the US where it has largely been forgotten. Elop has said they’re not planning on bringing anything less than an LTE phone to the states and when you combine that with MS’s own statements it is pretty clear they’ve got something big planned for CES.

  • http://fxfp.com/ Alex F.

Dear WMPU, please can you separate your summaries of the phone rumoured specs from the rest of the article? Just marking it in italic is not enough.
Otherwise it is was to easy to confuse the two (like many commenters seemingly did).

  • Anonymous

Awesome! Now just add a keyboard to it, front facing camera and throw it to Bell Canada. I’ll be all happy and ditch my LG Quantum!!

  • Anonymous

Well….Stephen Elop did say, at Nokia World, that when they enter the U.S. market it will be to include LTE and CDMA technologies, so no worries.

  • Anonymous

I hope we also get the Nokia Lumia 900 in the UK with integrated Video Chat (Skype/Live/Kinect)

  • Anonymous

What would really be nice, is if Nokia uses the N950 (the keyboard version of the N9) for WP.  They only made a few hundred of the N950 devices, and I see no reason for them not to be able to use that form factor for WP.  I don’t need a keyboard, but I think the N950 is a fresh look and would be welcomed by a lot of folks.

Although this is a BGR rumor (I hate that site), the fact remains that we all already know that Nokia is bringing ‘upgraded’ devices to the U.S. in 2012, so we only have to wait a couple of months to see the actual product.

  • http://twitter.com/jamesdax James Matthews

WTF?? AT&T again.  Come on now what are you doing T-Mobile???

    • Anonymous

T-Mobile is getting the Lumia 710.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Shaun-Wignal/617841109 Shaun Wignal

WTF is all the good WP7 phones going only to damn  att, shit I’m gettin sick of this shit, spread out the love,I’m waitin on a Flagship Nokia phone for T-Mobile already damn it, dont leave me hi and dry, my contract ends next year and I wont be switchin to att or others just for a phone, so bring me one to T mobile thank you..

    • Anonymous

Carriers get to pick the phone. Also, T-Mobile is getting the Lumia 710.

      • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/CW3SETFCKRB5NRLX5QZK3EMRWY Joe

I suspect that Shaun does not consider that to b a flagship phone so it aint good enough for him to buy!

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/CW3SETFCKRB5NRLX5QZK3EMRWY Joe

Its like this Shaun if T Mo wants the phone they  need to pony up the dough sufficient to Nokia to commit to selling the phone.  If they dont then somebody else picks up the 900 or whatever.  ATT has the resources to commit to WP devices.  If you want the phone to come to TMo you and all your friends and  others who want TMo to get with it  howl at TMo to your hearts content  but direct it at Tmo They wont listen much to one dog howlin in the wind but several thousand willing to commit to buy it if Tmo gets it would be enough I suspect to get Tmo to act.
