Bing Indoor Maps demoed on Windows Phone 7

Pocketnow have published this video showing a new Bing Maps feature – indoor maps.

The service is designed for large location such as airports, shopping malls and convention centres, and in the above demo provides the lay-out of Times Square in New York. Users will be able see multiple levels, search for stores and even see their reviews.

Of course the service will be most useful if it could also find directions, and Nokia has recently shown of an indoor navigation system that would allow just that.

Microsoft has also recently announced it has mapped 148 malls, including the 9 biggest malls in USA, so hopefully the technology will come to a location close to our readers soon.

Of course the service will be most useful if it could also find directions. I am not sure what you see meaning by that statement but you can tap on any store and get directions to that store.

Directions are more useful when you know your location ie GPS positioning. Nokia is developing indoor GPS, which would help these applications tremendously.

Just checked, I can pin a folder from a mailbox to the start screen. I’m running mango so dont know if it was there before

more important that indoor maps is public transportation mapping… which bing does not support. makes bing completely unusable if you live in someplace like new york, london, etc

Bing Map is also totally unuable if you love in some place like… Europe…

So actually I wonder where this shitty software is supposed to be nice and usable? Serious question.

So is Asia…. Building names, transport details, etc are not as precise as Google Map. Can’t even have a good What’s Around feature on BING map…

Why don’t you rather deliver at least DECENT outdoor map?!

Have you ever seen the new HD ing Maos with much clearer and crisper images. Hell even there 3D Aerial Maps are way better than Googles. So it would be only right for when they bring the people Mango that their Maps will be even better.

What’s the point of having beautiful 3D maps when BING maps is so useless outside US?
