CarbonCast–a new Podcasting app designed by Australians

Podcast support in Windows Phone 8 is poor in USA, and disastrous everywhere else.

Developer Jason Cartwright, an Australian, suffered from this neglect by Microsoft, but unlike most he did not just complain about it, but decided to do something.

CarbonCast is his new podcasting client which ticks many of the main boxes, and has some useful additional features.

The app has background audio playback, 30 second skip, automatic downloads over WiFi, playlist of the latest episodes, easy subscription to multiple podcasts, discover podcasts via categories or search and it saves and resumes playback positions.

The app leverages the API from podcast directory Gpodder.net and if you can’t find a podcast, you can request it.

The developer has unfortunately not included a trial.  The app is £0.79 and can be found in the Windows Phone Store here or read more at Techau.tv.
