Zombie Tracker: The Ultimate Tool to Survive the Undead

Zombie Tracker is a new application that gives any zombie geek the ultimate tool for their collection.
Zombie Tracker can do a number of things, but by far the coolest is that, should any zombies ever actually appear, Zombie Tracker can actually know where those zombies are (using an algorithm that scours several news feeds), and will display those zombies on a map for you. These news sources are available on the home screen of the app.
Zombie Tracker also comes with a number of other features to keep you fully prepared for the rise of the undead. It includes the ability to add markers to the map to keep track of all the locations important to you, an "infection aid," which can help you determine if someone is infected with the zombie virus, a survival notes tool to keep all your important notes for survival after the apocalypse organized, and a checklist for tools you have and need for the end of civilization as we know it.
The app was developed in consultation with zombie expert Christian Pearson, who also wrote a short story titled "The Tale of the Zombie Keith" released exclusively with this application.
Zombie Tracker has amazing capabilities, it looks great, and provides anybody fascinated by zombies, or even those merely interested in them, with an indispensable resource. It’s only $2.99 (USD) and available here.
An Unorthodox Fan-made Mango Video
A group of Taiwanese Windows Phone fans filmed a promotional video for the upcoming Windows Phone 7.5. They used real mangoes in the video to symbolize Mango Devices. Right now it is still unclear what the intended usage of this short film is.
First they ignore you, then they laugh …
… then they fight, and then they die
(and lets not forget that WP7 has higher customer satisfaction than Android and the AT&T iPhone)

Art imitating life
Reading thenextweb’s article on the new organizational hierarchy at Apple, I remembered these two articles (this and this) which highlighted the differences in structure between Apple, Microsoft and Google. That difference between the aforementioned companies is profound. Check out the images after the break to see what I mean!
Sonic 4 uses a Windows Phone
Windows Phone 7 handsets are popping up all over the place, including according to Windows Phone Metro in video games.
The site has noticed that the most famous hedgehog in the world, Sonic, is actually a Windows phone 7 user, if you can trust the clip published above from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I.
The scene apparently shows up if you keep Sonic idle in the game for about a minute without touching any controls, leaving the bored critter to pull out his Windows Phone and listens to some groovy tunes.
I think from the screen shot it is also pretty clear it is a Windows Phone 7 handset, even if the live tiles are just a few pixels across.

Thanks Steve for the tip.
If this ad is official…
… I take back everything I said about Microsoft’s growing media expertise…
On a more serious note, Messenger integration should be massive in Europe, where that IM network is very popular, and of course needs to be advertised much more aggressively (and professionally of course).
An Asian Group Makes A WP7 Mascot That Aims to Strike Back at Apple and Android Dolls

Recently a group of Asian WP7 fans designs a mascot for WP7. The design is based on the WP7 tiles, and the“W”on the top of the mascot represents “windows.”
The designer called this guy Tiler, and I believe the name is derived from the Windows Phone “Live Tiles.” Judging from this picture, I think Tiler is deciding to take on Apple and Android Dolls for a triple threat match.
If this mascot has the “characteristic” of a tile, and I suppose it will have different colors, but no matter what, it looks kind of cute, and I will keep an eye on this little guy to see if it has updates or not.
A Friday Video
Apple’s iOS isn’t the only platform for music apps. Windows Phone already has a good start in that department, with some really compelling titles from us (Honey Run Software) as well as from other publishers.
On a lighthearted note, this video shows why you should never let your kids know that you own a Windows Phone. Or never turn your back on your kids. Or something. Enjoy!
Windows Foam 7 strikes back against Android mascot

The Android mascot has become increasingly popular, featuring in a number of advertising campaigns for example.
At South By South West Microsoft has struck back by offering its own cuddly figurine, Windows Foam 7, which offers a friendly, easy to use interface and limited functionality, but which is completely child-friendly.
See more Windows Foam 7 pictures at Techie Buzz here.
If Zune is to be rebranded…

… maybe Microsoft will tie it to its most successful consumer product?
Thanks Soaked for the mock-up, and see more of his art here.
Facebook IM–the $150.99 app

Facebook IM is certainly a popular app feature, especially with push notifications, but I am not sure it is worth $150, not to mention $150.99. That extra $0.99 is particularly grating
Actually however is seems that the developer is not intending anyone to buy the app, but is merely pushing out a fixed version to its installed base, which is actually pretty good. There is a new version available of the same app from the same company for free at present, and even a XAP at XDA-Dev for side-loaders.
Of course the question of why the developer had to re-submit his application remains, but we laud him for continuing to take care of his older customers, unlike developers who have in the past threatened to leave those behind when problems with Marketplace and Microsoft force them to abandon their old app.
Thanks Austine for the tip.
A WP7 developer’s work

New Windows Phone 7 Really commercial
Well, not quite official, but if there is some measure of the effectiveness of Microsoft’s advertising campaign, is that everyone is saying this woman should be getting a Windows Phone 7 – a meme has been born.
