Solopalmari has published the first review of the HTC Snap and they come across as pretty impressed, both by the hardware and the responsiveness of the OS.

Here is some of what they had to say:

In the set of technical specifications  of ‘HTC Snap we can find everything, or almost everything, that power users may request: full wireless connectivity (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi) updated to the latest standards, powerful CPU, quad-band support with the latest technology in wireless broadband (UMTS / HSDPA), a reasonable allocation of memory, a GPS receiver. The battery is  particularly advanced: although the device is extremely small in size, the capacity is 1500 mAh, unusual  for Microsoft smartphone platform.

The responsiveness of the operating system is more than satisfactory, certainly greater than that of its predecessors (in SoloPalmari we reviewed  two years ago the HTC S620, that we can consider as the grandparent of the series to which the Snap belongs). This feature is very helpful when the Snap is requested for serious tasks, such as surfing heavy web pages (as is the case of the home page of SoloPalmari) or playing movies in a resolution equivalent to that of the display. Display we said: it’s excellent. Contrast and readability are superior, compared to other devices in category to which this terminal belongs (Snap, like any other "smartphone", has no touch screen). The visibility of details and texts is guaranteed even in difficult situations (outdoor and under the direct rays of the sun) provided you set backlight  at medium / high level.

A final mention goes to the GPS system implemented in the Snap. Based on several tests, both on the speed of fixing  and on the usage of  the pre-installed Google Maps, the receiver has shown average performance. The first fix for satellites took 43 seconds: 7 satellites appear under the sky visible for two thirds (during the tests were close to the veranda of a villa in the countryside). After the first fix, the GPS signal was never lost, even when, back in the lab, we positioned the device about two meters away from the closest window.

They have also done a video showing the performance of the device playing a movie, and it appears more than up to the task.
