First tip calculator for Windows Phone 7 developed

You know your platform is getting ready for 100 000 apps when you have the first tip calculator developed less than a week after the release of the emulator.

The app has been developed by Jeffstra, who I believe is a Microsoft employee.

Now we just need a flashlight app and we know we are on our way

Does WM7 have an on-screen numeric keypad like Windows Mobile 5 and 6? I haven't seen one yet. Just a QWERTY keyboard and emoticon keyboard.

yes, it does. the keyboard is "context" sensitive…still I think he just used a plain old text box for the input field so instead of the keyboard starting out numeric, it started out in qwerty.

I was just thinking the same thing too. I haven't seen the context-sensitive keyboard/keypad yet, but I agree that whoever built the app must have just used a textbox, which I'm sure will yield interesting result should an alphabet or symbol be entered.

App is ok for what it does, I think.

Sure, there is a numeric keyboard as well, have a look at the &123 button on left buttom. And there will be a dialer pad for sure.

Hey WMpoweruser…yep, that would be my Tip Calc….and it's pretty much a learning experiment for me but going well. I have (in a newer build) implemented InputScope to show the numeric keypad. I'll blog about it at http://blogs.msdn.com/jeffstra if you want to follow…will share the resources I used if you're looking to build some apps too.

Ugly. Jesus what is with the black and white look all across WP7S and plain rectangle buttons? I thought the reason everybody hated WM5/6 was that it looked like Windows 3.1. So far, WP7S looks like DOS text-mode 1980s Word Perfect UI!
