First Windows Phone 7 update coming February 7th?

There is a rumour going round that the first update for Windows phone 7 could be rolling out in a matter of days, specifically around the 7th February.

As yet there are of course no corroboration, but despite contrary rumours of a delay the update was always meant to be in testing in January and hit devices in February.

As mentioned above, there is no hard corroboration of this, so write this one in pencil in your calendars.

This is totally bogus. That Fabien tipster is obviously trying to get some traffic juice from WMPoweruser for his site he created a few days ago. He never mentions any Feb 7th date and his so called source is a link to a scam/spam/trash site with pop-up ads.

I contacted Dell Mobile tech support today about my Dell Venue Pro and the person I was talking to
said she received an email today saying that there will be an update coming on Feb 7th that will fix the lockup issues with the dell phone, and did say that microsoft did work with dell on this exact fix …
I hope she is correct ..

I hope there is more than just C&P…really, if thats all (along with faster loading times) then thats not enough IMO.

I hope some of the irrational stuff in WP7 is ironed out.

I think regular updates help keep users engaged in their mobile platform of choice. It always reassuring after dropping the coin and signing a contract that the manufacture/software company behind your phone is actively working on it. I think that is the success story behind a lot of iPhone users is that they voice complaints, some are worthy of a little update, some are held off for one of the big updated, but the platform is always getting tweaked. I really hope updates become a lot more frequent in the future, I like the Metro UI too much, but I also like evolving platforms, and WP7 has been pretty stagnated from the get go. I've got my fingers crossed, but I do know this if they don't have the updates before MWC people will be pissed. It's not only that the updates haven't came, it's the sound of crickets you hear from Microsoft about the updates.

It's possible they have a no update within 90-day window deal with carriers. It's been past 90 days for Europe while Feb 7 would make it the 90-th day for the US.
