Flash Android to a Windows Mobile Phone

If you yet to noticed, Android has been a part of the Windows Mobile phone communities for a while now, well now you can actually flash it. Flashing a phone means replacing everything on it with something new and updated, well a developer from XDA has used this technique and made a new flashing system for flashing Windows Mobile phones and giving it Android 1.6. This can only be done for the Vogue, but hopefully the the community will shift over to the Touchpro2 soon then the Touch Diamond2. This is a risky flash, because when you flash Android, it erases everything on your phone including Windows Mobile before installing Android, so it is not a dual boot sort of thing, it is one way or the other.

The Instructions can be found here. Their is currently a bounty for anyone who wants to make $1280, all you have to do is make a flashable version of Android for the Touchpro2, pretty simple, check it out here.

Why would anybody want to ruin their WM phone by flashing Android onto it? For example, a Porche isn't all that exciting if you replace its engine with Honda lawnmower engine.

Because 6.5.X is basically the end of the line for all current WM phones. With Tegra/Snapdragon being the minimum requirements for WM7, don't expect a lot of backports, if it's even possible. Android, being open souce, is going to allow these devices to keep up to date

Really? Just because it's Open Source? That alone will force Google to backport to older phones?

You apparently have no idea what Open Source means other than it's a snazzy buzzword which means "durr good!"

And what's wrong with 6.5.1 being the "end of line" of lower end phones for WM? Do you plan on keeping three year old phones and continue upgrading them? Most people change their phones more often than their underwear.

Did you seriously ask what's wrong with the "end of the line"? I'm pretty sure that questions answers itself. But seeing as how you're too dense to figure it out, I'll help you. Well Parrotlover77, end of the line means no more support/patches. It also means not as many technological advances. Advances like Google's free turn by turn GPS that Vogue users can now enjoy. Just because "most people" upgrade their phone more than their underwear, doesn't mean all people do. I'm sure there will be plenty of people in that Vogue forum next year. Not everyone has to have the latest and greatest, and not everyone can afford it

Actually you are very wrong and not doing your research before posting an article.
Android can be ported using HaRET and your WinMo will remain intact perfectly safe, allowing you to dual boot between os.

My guess is that it would be faster since you wouldn't have Windows Mobile residing in memory anymore.

Speaking of uninformed.
Other than bootup time into WinMo and then running haret vs booting directly into Android, performance is identical.
That's the benefit of haret! It's able to kick WinMo completely out of memory and kill all of its process. So in the end with haret you get 0 overhead vs native android.
