Fujitsu IS12T lined up in store and ready to launch on August 25th

Tezawaly from Nanapho.jp has managed to catch a whole treasure trove of Fujitsu IS12T Windows Phone 7.5 handsets all lined up and ready to be purchased on the 25th August.

The devices were found in the Biccamera Yurakucho store in Tokyo are unfortunately were not charged.

While the phones will be relatively expensive for westerners the are not far off par for the course in Japan, and Tezawaly notes there is some excitement in Japan for these handsets, so hopefully the launch will go well for Fujitsu.

If the Fujitsu IS12T is here next week, can the rest be far off?

If these things worked in Australia I’d be all over one for the missus.
Here’s hoping MS adds the ability to change the OS language without a registry hack.

Why for some strange reason I seem to believe the Japanese hate foreign products so much (with the exception of Apple). Perhaps, it’s just that they hate Microsoft, after all, it in many ways, it’s a Microsoft branded product that they will be seeing more than the Fujitsu brand. I’m really looking to see if these products prove me wrong.

They don’t hate Microsoft – There’s a higher ratio of PC users to Mac users in Japan than in the states.  Windows Mobile was never appealing because it lacked a lot of features that you need in the Japanese market – WP currently lacks them as well. but considering WP is Microsoft’s consumer approach it could go better.  The only reason Apple still is selling 20% of smartphones in Japan is because Android has a reputation of not working as smoothly as iOS – a problem solved by Mango.  I do question the amount of effort that Microsoft put into WP Japan, though.  A lot of the features that Apple focused on to make it a success in Japan Microsoft hasn’t really focused on.   No Japanese Emoji support, the Zune music store doesn’t really exist in Japan, no support for NFC (not that iPhone has it), etc.  Mind you the iPhone was at 80% only a year ago

By the way Japan tends to only hate foreign products (phones) because they tend not to be as good as domestic brands.  I would say parts of Japan are almost actually xenocentric when it comes to products.

I guess I know them better than a lot of people. They hate foreign products that will destroy theirs, like XBox. Windows Phone is a different story. Agree with Koarin, Japan is Microsoft’s first try, not taking it too seriously. However, the store display is major. If Mango get a half that treatment in US, it will be great winter for WP7.

Xbox wasn’t popular because there weren’t that good of games released in the Japanese market, and FPS aren’t popular in Japan.  Plus, PS3 was known around Japan as a stronger system. Resulting in an Xbox nobody wants to buy

I would like to rephrase your statement as ‘This is Microsoft’s first try in Japan”, not “Japan is Microsoft’s first try”. We need to see some better localization as well as better hardware before it becomes any success. The metro design really abides by key Japanese design principles of minimalism and whatnot

I actually kinda want this phone (for the weatherproofing). I know this is packed with tons of radios – any of those compatible with Sprint?

Okay, cool – this is a good display!  Even if some of the devices aren’t powered, it looks as though they are giving it plenty of shelf space.  I have NEVER seen that much shelf space given to any (or even the three devices at ATT) WP device.   Hopefully, hopefully, the carriers will give WP more space when the new devices launch.

Japan uses CDMA2000 mainly (not to be confused with CDMA) correct?  I don’t think it’s used elsewhere or barely anywhere else to my knowledge.

This is mainly a CDMA phone, but it also has GSM roaming capabilities. So we CAN use it overseas. But…KDDI would probably locked it down.

This a really nice phone, I wish it would come to the U.S. with 4G.
