Galatea 3D Game Engine ported to Windows Mobile

MindPol technologies have ported their Windows-based 3D game engine to Windows Mobile, and seem to have met with quite a bit of success. Aimed at games developers who want to speed their time to market, the software comes with a toolkit for developers,  3D Model Rendering System, 3D Model Animation System (Hierarchy, Skinning, Vertex, …), Event Based Particle System and much more.

See the Engine in action below, demonstrated on an Xperia X1.

Damn good… that’d help a lot with next gen game developing for the platform…

Let’s hope someone picks the engine quickly… I can see a “Games for Windows Mobile” branding in the vicinity.

Intriguing… no, I mean it. This gives a new lease of gaming life to the current generation of WM handsets. But, as always, the iPhail is one step ahead with its already released deadly combo of 600Mhz A8 Cortex + PowerVR SGX; which makes PSP look crap. The only missing feature, therefore, is a D-pad which will no doubt be provided as an accessory to the beast of a hardware.

Let’s hope some WM ODM has the balls to spend a bit of money to release a ‘decent’ smartphone in this day and age.
