Game Review: COLLAPSE

COLLAPSE is a little puzzle game where you destroy clusters of three or more blocks to win.

Overall Score: 4/5

Despite how easy the game is, it is extremely enjoyable and provides enough variation that it actually becomes very satisfying to play. If you like playing puzzle games but don’t care to really stress your mind trying to figure them out, this is the perfect game for you.

Gameplay: 5/5

COLLAPSE is very simple, and can practically be played by tapping madly on the screen until you clear everything. However, it also has some more challenging gameplay modes like the Strategy modes, and it presents new Expert goals for each level, giving you unique targets to shoot for when playing. The most important thing about the game is that it’s actually fun to play. Once you get about thirty minutes into the game, you are really drawn into it thanks to the always changing gameplay style. There are boss levels, puzzle levels, double sided levels, and more. There are even upgrades you can buy using points earned from playing the game. It’s an extremely fun and easy to play puzzle game.

Presentation: 4/5

Nothing spectacular here, but the visuals are clean and the music is good, and the game loads quite fast.

Lasting Value: 4/5

You’ll get over 4 hours out of the story mode of the game. After that, however, there’s not too much to do. You can play the Quick Play modes, but there’s not too much incentive to play those, since most of the fun comes from completing the story and getting a sense of progression. Nevertheless, those four hours are very fun!

You should change your scoring system, make it out of 10 or something, or add half points. Because as it is this game gets the same score as Plants vs Zombies, which is ridiculous.

Well, I didn’t think PvZ was THAT impressive. What I like about the scoring system now is that it’s not all about which game has the very highest score. Games instead fall into the categories of Great = 5, Good = 4, Average = 3, etc. Does it really matter if a game scores a few fractions of a point higher? Nah, since it’s subjective anyways.

The overall score simply tells you a broad idea of how decent the game is.
