Game Review: Hasta La Muerte

I sometimes wonder why bad games like these become Xbox Live titles…

Overall Score: 2/5

The gameplay is actually a little fun, but the controls and bugs and lack of multitasking bring it way down.

Gameplay: 2/5

This game uses your accelerometer, which is fine. However, it uses your accelerometer to get to the page where you can calibrate your accelerometer…. thus making it impossible to calibrate your accelerometer when it needs calibrating. The developers sure didn’t think that one through. Anyways, the gameplay is decently fun once you get into it, and it has some good variation and powerups and bosses. However, I ran into a bug where the powerups stopped working and I couldn’t play the game anymore.

Presentation: 1/5

Microsoft, it’s 6 months away from the end of the world 2012, Mango has been out for a long time now, and you just recently disabled the Marketplace for all devices not on Mango… this game was updated on April 26th. It should have added support for Mango at that time. By now, any games without Mango multitasking default to a 1/5 unless they have spectacular visuals.

Lasting Value: 2/5

With the bug I ran into, I wasn’t able to play past level 16. I actually wanted to, since the game was getting exciting. However, my powerups stopped working and they were necessary to complete the boss level. Other users have reported severe issues with the accelerometer controls, which also make the game impossible to play (my HTC Radar suffered no such issues though).qrcode
