htc_7_pro_hand_front_openArne from the the:unwired.net have published a collection of 27 high quality pictures of the HTC 7 Pro.

The device in the GSM version pictured is expected to be released in January on 02 Germany, and likely around the world around the same time, including on CDMA carriers in USA.

The smartphone has  a stainless steel back and sees the return of the exposed screws styling as seen on the HTC HD Mini.  It comes in at an impressive 185 g which is actually heavier than the 178.5g of the HTC Touch Pro 2.htc_7_pro_front_openhtc_7_pro_back_open

I´m curious if this will _the_ poweruser device again, just like the TP and TP2 have been (at least that´s my impression from the Xda-forums back then).

Also, will we see some more landscape support from Microsoft?

  • mighty

I'm impressed by the black levels in those photos. Maybe an enhanced version of SLCD?

    • efjay

Probably not as impressive in reality, looks like the same washed out LCD screen as other HTC WP7 devices.

i dont think i would get a htc phone anytime soon..the quality of htc phones have gone downhill rapidly..my money is on sammy for windows phone 7…huge screens and fake bulky speakers with subpar build cut it for me..

  • Bob

Why, oh, why did they make this with only a 3.6" display?

    • http://www.facebook.com/wixostrix Edwin Michael Rodriguez-Duplesis

cuz the keyboard would have been HUGE and its already pretty big on the TP2. I think for something that is already pretty big it's a good size.

  • Gideon

just like baseball… don't swing at the first pitch(7Pro) unless its a fat ball down the center of the plate(Samsung Focus/HD7/Omnina.) Nice try but just like the ad "really?" yeah we want wp7 but not like this(sprint)

  • man1up

just like baseball don't swing at the first pitch(7Pro). Watch for the laces(Focus/Omnia/HD7 like device.) We want WP7 to suceed and would be willing to showcase it, but on 3.6 inches? insert commerical: "really?"

  • andrewbares

Heavier than the TP2??? That thing was a brick! :O

    FAKE SPEAKERS?!?!?!

Man I hope Sprint has other phones coming or they will be very disappointed!

    Big phone – little screen

    Fake Speakers

    8gb memory

    Heavy as hell….

Come on HTC.. Really? The funny thing is you are worried about HTC Sense being on WP7 hardware. You really need to step up your game ya bums!!

  • maurizio

Is it normal that the Metro UI stays in portrait mode even when the keyboard is opened?

It's maybe normal but it really looks weird here.

    • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

In all fairness, why would you want to open up the keyboard on the homescreen? Looking to type something? Even if the home screen did operate in landscape, you couldn't use the phone with one hand anymore. Unless you are typing or surfing, their is no need to go landscape and if I'm correct, WP7 does go landscape in text, email and web programs.

      • KCMatt

I have the LG Quantum, which has a landscape sliding qwerty, and the non-rotation of the home screen is a complete non-issue. Everything else rotates instantly and gracefully, with the exception of a few instances, that should be corrected in the update. (typing an app review in marketplace is all I can think of where it does not rotate like it should)

But I would avoid HTC like the plague right now, they're putting out crap quality. I guarantee there will be some sort of issue with this one. Not to mention, LG is releasing some innovative apps limited to LG devices. All HTC want to do is whine that they can't slap Sense over WP7.

  • alrescha

    what an ugly phone!!

  • Jchavez

imo it looks like a well built phone but I think sprint should get more then just this becuz obisously a samsung focus type slate device is selling more I'd like a hd7 to come to sprint that would be great…

  • JoeR.

Wow…so many of you are borderline clueless. First of all, those metal mesh looking inserts are meant to be nothing more than eye candy. No one ever said that they were speaker baffles…so please stop complaining about "fake speakers".

Also, anyone who puts down the build quality of HTC phones has not held one. HTC products are rock solid…and very attractive. I also own a Samsung Galaxy S phone. Very good phone, but it feels like a cheap toy. If you want to bash any manufacturer's build quality, you may want to start with Samsung. From everything we know so far, there's only one legitimate gripe that can be made about the HTC Pro 7 is in regards to the screen size. Yes, it's also heavy, but that's to be expected of a device with a full physical QWERTY keyboard that is constructed using high quality materials.

    • Vinnie

I've decided to stop buying HTC phones for awhile because my last three HTC phones all had hardware issues. So I disagree with you about their phones being "rock solid," and I think a lot of other people feel the same as I do in that aspect.

I don't know why people are calling those fake speakers too. It's aesthetics, people.

      • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

I don't know why other people are calling them fake speakers but I can tell you why I am. The Touch Pro 2 was know for it's wonderful dual speakers. I haven't seen dual speakers on any other part of the current Pro phone. Logically I assumed the grills on the left and right of the keyboard were speakers. It appears I was wrong in assuming and so I've come to the conclusion that HTC sucks golf balls if they took a step back in regards to speaker quality.

  • http://twitter.com/jessiethe3rd @jessiethe3rd

Nothing wrong with this design… last generation. It looks like another recycled design attempt from HTC. I'd take the EVO 4G with keyboard running WP7 before I'd take this. The screen looks like *booo*

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000479683479 Milad Bazzaz

build quality is probably always good with htc phones…

but like any other wp7 phone, its got underwhelming hardware specs…this phone is so 2009…again.

  • KCMatt

And that is why HTC is the most PROFITABLE windows phone 7 manufacturer… they put out underspecced crap and people keep buying it!
