HTC HD Mini compared to the HTC HD2

Pocketnow have published this video comparing the recently released HTC HD Mini with the older HTC HD2. Despite the HTC HD mini being called simply a smaller HTC HD2 the video actually shows significant differences in performance, user interface and application compatibility, with Pocketnow saying the smaller device with the HVGA screen does not support common applications such as SPB Mobile Shell or Skyfire, due to its lower resolution non-standard screen.

That's a bit sad, if it doesn't support Skyfire. Does it support Opera? Nobody uses IE mobile.

This thing is just a piece of junk that shouldn't have been made. Just get the Diamond 2 if something of that size is what you want.

And looks like he got bitten by the Recent Documents scanning in the BG issue. Looks like HTC pinch-zoom was just ported over without tuning for the difference in screen size by scaling it real physical mm, not pixels. Bad Programmers!

Also, how can HTC release a device with the same res as the iPhone on a much smaller screen and in capacitive. Two wrongs don't make it right.

It's hilarious to see how many times WM screwed up so he had to make a video cut.

Thoughts on the pinch to zoom, its probably the exact same antilogarithm used on the hd2….but on the hd2 where 1" is say 150-200 pixels on the hdmini the same 1" would be alot less pixels…so instead of having to move 1" u would have to move 1.5-2" to get the same effect.

(again im 100% guessing as i have nether a hd2 or hd mini)

Originally, I was thinking the same way as you, but then the smaller screen should generate a bigger delta vector. Meaning the same finger movement should have a bigger effect on the Mini as it covers more screen pixels.

So, they must have caught that and then over-compensated the other way.
