HTC HD2 accessories selling out

HTC Accessories sold out

I would certainly not have believed it, but it seems HTC HD2 users are pretty passionate about genuine HTC accessories. Clove.co.uk. reports on their blog that their first shipments of the HTC HD2 official extended battery and car kit have already sold out, less than a week after availability, and they have had to order a new lot which will only arrive next week.

Both of these accessories are pretty expensive, with the car kit running at £64.62 (around $100) and the extended battery £41.13 (around $65) and both are of course pretty scaled down from the first renders we saw prior to availability. They also both have much cheaper alternatives available, which I guess mean HTC HD2 owners have an eye more towards quality than value

I think anyone who's been willing to fork over enough money to purchase an HD2 thus far will certainly not have a problem spending a little more to get a quality accessory from HTC, who's known for building their products with high quality and long life.

Especially when it comes to batteries – I'd rather have the piece of mind knowing an extended battery was certified by the company that made my phone, then save a few bucks getting a no-name that could very well decrease the life of my phone.

I purchased one of the extended batteries from Clove. Yes it was expensive but I wanted to pay for good quality on the battery. I wish the extended back piece was metal but it's just plastic. The kickstand is nice and also a reason I purchased it, though I wish it were built in like the upcoming EVO.

Really? The official big battery comes with a plastic back?

What a huge disappointment, and goes right in the face of those saying HTC accessories are so much higher quality. That backplate covers 50% or so of the phone's rear, I don't want it turned into plastic (especially if it's so fat looking to begin with).

I think you need to change the word value to cheaping out… Alot of the "value" accessories are of a lot lower quality and the batteries are a joke. The 3 instances when I have bought a replacement battery other than OEM have all been failures and a waste of money. Why would I get a phone like a HD2 and dress it down? So in other words HD2 owners are more of a connoisseur than a get you by type of person…lol

I bought a 3rd party cradle for under $10, and it works fine and it also takes any other device.

Sure, the official HTC one will probably be a better fit but I don't need to spend six times the amount for a better fitting cradle that will only ever take an HD2.

You might have a point re. batteries, but I don't believe there is much difference in the quality of other accessories… they won't fit as well, obviously, but they are also a lot cheaper and not necessarily made of cardboard.

Of course, I might still have money left over for genuine accessories if I had waited for an HD2 on contract like so many others.
