HTC HD2 extended battery with kick stand coming next month

Clove has announced some more information regarding accessories for the HTC HD2, which they call the most popular HTC device of 2009.

Of particular interest to me is the HTC HD2 Extended Battery (HTC-EBATHD2), which they expect to arrive in February 2010 and which promises to double battery life.

What really has me interested however is the kick stand which comes integrated, something which I often miss when I contemplate using the device for watching a YouTube video. The larger battery capacity should also help make this less of risk to the device lasting the day if used that way.

Whether this design touch is worth the pricy £52.88 the official extended battery will cost is however certainly debatable.

  • very interested in something like this. wouldn't spend that much though.

  • I bought one of those GoGo Stands you featured on here a while back. Works pretty well and fits in the wallet easily.

The HD2 isn't as stable as I'd like in portrait, but in landscape it's fine.

I like the stand, but never in a million years would impregnate my svelte HD2 with that monstrosity.

Remember my friend had an extended battery for his Moto Q, which at the time was an impressively thin device… made it look like crap.

If I had battery issues with the HD2, which I don't by the way (last me one day which is good enough) I'd just carry around a spare normal-sized battery around with me to keep the HD2's nice profile.

Never really understand why companies release extended battery that looks like a behemoth and ruins the form of their phone…

    Jos Dewey Reply:

Gee, if it isn't any bigger then how would it hold a bigger charge?

They sure are ugly, but I don't really see how using the same type of battery they could give you extended juice for the same physical size.

Hate the extended battery and takes away the sexiness of the device. Like most others I like the stand, so why not develop a standard back with a stand !!?

  • Taiwan_techie:

If I bought this it would render the two leather cases I have for this completely useless, and for this reason I have two spare batteries. I'm sorry I'd rather buy more batteries than something that would make my HD2 turn from sexy to ugly.

@as147: agreed, maybe they should've just given us the stand in the first place.

  • Jake:

I generally agree with the comments above and wouldn't use a battery like this on a day to day basis. Howver, it would be great to use on long flights, train trips, etc.

  • fucc:

great news, i need more battery power eheheh. if you are interested in the italian version: http://bit.ly/7DXJue

  • Ray:

the bulge at the back could protect the camera lens when being laid flat

  • This is just more than anything.. HD2 owns!!!
