HTC HD2 Extended Battery real pictures, specs released

htchd2extendedbatteryreal1 Click for larger version

htchd2extendedbatteryVia CoolSmartphones, we finally have some real pictures of the HTC HD2 extended battery, and the news is not good.

While the device retains all the features of the render, in real life it appears much bulkier than the render suggests, and appears rather less stylish also, lacking the yellow flash which the render sported under the kickstand.

The good news is that the capacity, at 2300 mAh, is pretty good, and should see the device through at least a few day’s use.

See more detail at EasyDevices.co.uk, where the accessory is selling for £34.99 without VAT.

Holy hell, that's ugly to the max. But I suppose one other benefit other than more juice is that the device is probably more stable since this battery looks to be thicker than the camera housing which makes the stock device wobbly.

And are you crazy for thinking it looks better with that yellow band in the renders? The yellow makes no sense, nothing about the HD2 is yellow… in fact, everything about the HD2 is black or gray. That gunmetal they have in there now is much better.

But whatever, I'd much rather charge my phone every night than use this. Fair enough if the default doesn't even give you a day worth of use, but if it does I really think plugging in every night when you go to bed is nicer than making your phone preggo.

Seidio will come out with an extended battery that fits under the standard cover of the HD2, just like they do for most smartphones. I used it on my Tilt and on my TP2. I've always been pleased (and the Seidio battery is even a bit lighter than the stock batteries in the Tilt and TP2, which is an added plus)

The capacity will likely be smaller than this 2300mAh beast though…

yes the title is a bit off, but after looking at the pics I agree that it is down right ugly. Different color all together, and it is super bulky with 90 degree angles that will make it a bugger to get out of your pocket. I would rather take the battery itself and tape it in or glue it and just forget the cover.

  • Eh, that extended battery looks rather weird. And there is no proof that the body is HTC HD2 btw xD

I bought a second battery and charger from a hong kong seller on ebay. Works fine and stops ruining the looks.

That's how I would do it, rather than buying this crap.

It looks really good if your going to use it to watch movies or type a document using an bluetooth keyboard….

its not nice too look at but i sure can be helpfull if you use it as your primary camera and camcorder when you can't take an extra device with you.

    example:

When i go bike riding i use my phone as an MP3 player, GPS tracker (to meauser the distance, altidude and average speed…..) and take occasional pictures and a few videos of whatever crazy things we're doing… all of this drains my battery to zero in about 7 hrs. So in my case i can use this extra battery even at the cost of bulkiness. Of course i would remove this batter after the day is over :)

Yea kinda like a travel battery. That is where they need to market this at is long distance travel battery. Going camping then you need this. Going on a road trip you need this, but then again you can get a charger for your car so…..

  • I'll take one at 2000mAH please…

    One word description: ffuuuuuggllyyyyy!!!!!

I can't believe they created something this effing ugly for what many the world over consider to be "thee" premium smartphone available right now. As others have said, just buy a second battery and charger and you're good to go, in style.

I rarely ever need a second battery because my phone is on the charger every night, and if I run low during the day I just plug it into the car charger when on the road or the wall charger back at the office. Much easier.

  • How is something that huge only giving 2300 mAh?

I wonder if there's a lot of wasted space in there. And perhaps a family of mice.

  • Ben:

Well it looks ugly, i agree. but this battery means you can run your device twice a time. for sure this is not a solution for the pocket xD BUT when im on the train i like playing playstation games, tethering wlan internet, listening to music, …, on my HD2 and that takes a lot of energy. so maybeee i would buy one of these ;)

  • Who?:

Lolercoaster. Looking forward to the TP3 so I don't have to deal with this issue.

  • Haha… I will stick with the original battery. :)
